Rises the Moon

Sunny watches the kids at lunch while Liam speaks with you. "So, the kids are good to you? They like you?" He asks you.

You stare at the colored floor, "They do ask me questions about how I'm different and stuff..."

"Oh...well they are kids. They don't mean to be rude, they're just curious!" He beams

You nod nervously. He's right. They are just kids. They don't mean anything.

"But, I do want to warn you though: After lunch, it's nap time for the kiddos. That means Sun turns into Moon. Moon can be...bellicose...towards adults and disobeying children. So, I want you to keep an eye out for any of his behavior. Got it?"

You nod aggressively, trying to get Liam to go away. He ruffles up your hair, something you weren't expecting, and walks out the back door. You turn back around to see yogurt all over Sunny from one of the toddlers squeezing the tube of yogurt a tad too hard. "Oh golly! What a mess!" Sunny shrieks as the toddler guilty of this action giggles.

You find this a little humorous yourself, but you decide to assist him. "Here, let me help-"

You get a napkin and wipe the strawberry yogurt off of his torso. He smiles and thanks to you. You put the dirty napkin in a nearby bin. You clean off the other kids that might need help and wipe the tiny tables off (there are two).

After a few minutes, most of the kiddos are sitting on the ground yawning at each other. It's time for their naps. You replay what Liam talked to you about. Moon. Sounds okay. Everything is going to be chill. You begin to set out sleeping bags for the children, who some crawl into or some sit there. Sunny's nervously fiddling his fingers. "Wh-What are you doing Y/N?"

You turn around and notice his anxious smile, "It's nap time for the kids." You say blankly.

He looks down at his pointy shoes. "Oh...right."

After you finish putting the sleeping bags down and ready, you walk over to Sunny. Let's just say you're not the best at comforting people. You learn from your therapist. "What's the matter? It's nothing to be ashamed for."

You cross your arms. You don't look directly into his eyes so you watch the movement of his mouth. "I-I know but...you're new and I don't know how he'll react to you! He hasn't said. I don't want you to get hurt and then never come back!"

You tilt your head just to the side a little. "Why do you think he'll hurt me?" You ask sternly

"H-He's pulled a child's arms out of their sockets before trying to put them back to their sleeping bag! He's scared other assistants away before! I don't want that to happen to you, Y/N!"

Jeez, what the hell kind of programming did these guys get? "The only reason why we didn't get dismembered was because of me...Matthew said no one could replace me..."

You grab his hand and trace the lines on it with your thumb. Physical contact is something your therapist does and it makes you feel a little better. Sunny may not be able to actually feel this like humans do, but he probably has sensors built into him. His figure relaxes a little as you do this, "Matthew is right: No one can replace you. But, that's a good thing because you're...a good robot." You feel awkward, "You don't have to worry about me. I'll be okay."

"Th-thanks, Y/N. But, if you do get hurt, I'll be responsible to treat your wounds!"

You nod at him and begin to walk towards the front desk to do some paperwork. Sunny begins to get the rest of the children ready: tucking the sleepy ones in and giving books or a coloring page for the kids that choose not to sleep to do quietly. After that, you notice Sunny sit down and look at you in a way of signaling it's okay to turn off the lights. You do so.

The joyful music that echoes throughout the daycare turns off and sounds distorted as it powers down. It's now very dark, other than glow-in-the-dark stars that are sprinkled along with the ceiling. There's even a vast moon that also gleams painted on the wall. You hear faint whimpering so you look at the kids from the desk: They seem to be okay. You assume you're just hearing things.

Now that everything looks normal, you begin to do your paperwork. The work you're assigned with is simple things like keeping track of when the baby's and potty-training toddlers were changed and if whatever came out looked normal or not. If any kids got injured (injures such as deep cuts and broken bones: anything serious), you had to write it down. Write down what kids had behavioral problems and with what and how any kids with disabilities improved with anything today and blah blah blah. This was killing you with boredom, but you had to do this stuff for legal purposes and to keep your damn job. If you had to sit here this whole time you were gonna-

Wait. What was that sound? You heard gears twisting coming from above you and the sound of metal grinding against a zip line. You look up to only see the star stickers on the ceiling. You feel paranoid and as if you're being watched.

Next thing you know, you hear a soft thud from right in front of you, now the sound of gears turning is louder. You slowly bring your head down to face forward in fear. You now see what the gears are coming from: It looks like Sunny. But, it has a cap with a fuzzy white ball at the end of it instead of sun rays. The same glowing stars from the ceiling are on its pants and hat. Instead of the friendly yellow and orange theme, it has a blue theme. With its red glowing eyes piercing your soul, he gives you a wide and terrifying smile. Moon.

"Why...what do we have here..?" He growls just a little while mumbling, "A new assistant to our wonderful daycare? Interesting...Let me take a closer look at your pretty face..."

Moon reaches his hand towards your face as fast as the speed of light. You flinch, preparing yourself for whatever is about to happen...
