My phone rings again but this time I clicked answer she second my phone lit up.
Amelia: CMON DAWN, ANSWE- Dawn?
Dawn: hi
Amelia: Omg! Are you okay? Are you hurt? Where are you? Do you know where Benji is? Is he with you? Is he okay?
Dawn: ...
Amelia: Dawn?
Dawn: I'm um.. I'm at end of Eastroad forest. You won't find it on any map, I'll send u my location, see you.
Amelia: Daw-
I hung up the phone because I knew if I stayed on any longer
I wouldn't be able to keep up the 'I'm okay' act.
It was about 25 minutes after the call when Amelia, Rosie, Jade and Toby arrived.
They all ran over to me but the second I made eye contact with them they knew, they all knew.
"Is that his?" Amelia said in a quiet tone glancing at the hoodie wrapped around my arms
"Yeah" I whispered
I looked down at the ground using all of my power not to shed a tear.
They gradually sat on the surrounding grass while I told them all what happened, but by the end of it I didn't need to cry anymore. Not because I had let out my tears or I had finally accepted it,
but because I had become numb.
Numb to the sense of pain, loss, hurt or even happiness. Now that he was gone,the only thing keeping me here was the people sitting around me.
We sat in silence for a while before we heard voices in the distance. They were too far away to hear clearly but was understandable was
"...yes,that way...a group of kids...is she the one?"
Crap
"Go" I say in a monotone voice
"Run"
"Wha- no!" snapped Amelia
"You guys haven't done anything wrong, you don't deserve this" I insisted
"Well you haven't either!" Tobi assured
"And you think they'll believe that? Look, I've tried to hide, they're always going to find me. There's no point anymo-"
I unlocked my phone to check the text that interrupted my rant
