#Fun Fact- Koala fingerprints are so close to humans' that they could taint crime scenes.
The living room was wringing the neck with insufficient oxygen to breathe. Thirteen members including both sides crouched conjured on the small three-seater settee and a few of them stood leaning on the door frame glaring at the not so clingy couple, who was attached with their hips. Among all Arundhati and Tej, were the tense. On the one hand, Arundhati was thinking if her decision of getting her daughter married was right, she was rethinking her acts. Another hand Tej was puzzled, he was not dumb to be unable to understand the situation. He guessed that his favourite lad had secretly married and that's the reason he was away for a month-long. The rest of the family were no less than a statue waiting for their answers.
"I'm not pregnant. Nor do I and Shivi have that association. Not yet." Annika started with her low soothing tone watching the silence envelop the environment.
"Shivi? But Khanna informed us so." Jhanvi the sane person of all pondered aloud with her knitted brows.
"Mummy it's a sobriquet like Choti ma calls Chote papa as 'Shakthi ji' with love. The same goes for sista." Rudra answered proudly only to earn a few death glares and some shut ups.
"On December 27 I lied to my Aai that I love someone and as proof, I showed a screenshot picture of Shivi from his social media account. Believing it Aai halted my wedding." Annika gulped the chunk formed in her throat as Arundhati shot a deadly glare in her direction.
"The wedding halted only for a few minutes. I don't know should I call it unfortunate or fortunate, I was handling the same wedding for earnings. Mrs Ahuja came out of nowhere after she saw a picture of mine from Annika and the rest is history. Two months back on this day we were performing post-wedding rituals." Shivaay concluded his part of the narration with his head hung low perhaps with no regrets of doing those things.
Hearing all points that Khanna missed to inform them with the right usage of words the Oberoi's sighed with disquietude. Their minds automatically spiralled around Shivaay and thought whether he was forced into this relationship.
"When you weren't interested in getting married you could have explained to your parents. Correct me if I'm wrong." Jhanvi voiced out her impressions in a diplomatic manner.
"My parents are co-parenting me. They especially Aai didn't want my life to end up like theirs. Also, Aai promised that she would send me to Australia for my Master's." Shivaay broadened his eyes realising the depth of the situation.
"We are sorry for the actions. But Shiv is ready to give a chance to this bond. I anticipate you accept my daughter as your elder daughter-in-law." Harsh untangled himself from his ex-wife's grip, who thought that he would create a ruckus, he stepped ahead.
"That's true what Uncle said. I do like her. Truth to be said I didn't realise how months passed with her. She is everything I'm not, however she might be tricky at times but she is easy to handle." Annika punched his arms hearing his praises like complaints.
"She and her father are the same, isn't easy to handle. Indeed love is blind, that is the reason you are boasting her." Arundhati taunted them as Shivaay struggled with her punches and lingered his lips on her hairline.
"Will you stop this PDA? That's so annoying." Tej stood up with the frustration of seeing a young couple so in love that they forgot about the surroundings.
"Opps sorry!" Jumping away from each other both maintained one arm distance between them, grinning at Tej.
"I wanted a pretty, cute, obedient and sweet daughter not this Ms hotheaded," Tej murmured as he watched Annika from top to bottom.
"What did she do now?" Arundhati nervously asked him as she turned around in his direction.
"You got a letter from her college right?" Harsh and Arundhati nodded as Tej implored.
"The reason is that she rebelled against me, the trustee of college in the presence of the whole college." Pinky grasped with her mouth wide open like that of a saucepan.
"Wow Sonu, you got guts like your father. I'm proud of you." Harsh fist-bumped with his daughter while his ex-wife looked at the father-daughter duo with utter disbelief.
"Ohh my mata. My baby is perfect for Oberoi's family. I'm proud of you, you stood against terror." Pinky strolled to Annika and gave a bone-crushing hug, appreciating her boldness.
Elsewhere Shakthi and Jhanvi muffled their growing laugh looking at the eternally aggravated Tej.
"My Mom." Shivaay bend over and whispered to Annika. Hearing this she passed on a troublesome smirk.
"So an apple doesn't fall from a mango tree. But it was nice meeting Shivi's nice and bubbly mother and my mother-in-law." Shakti bit his tongue as Annika was about to disclose the same words once he had told her.
"We are diverting the topic," Rudra yelled as he stood in the middle of the hall eyeing everyone with a stink eye. "Bhaiya didn't sista say that you both were in love since childhood. If I am not wrong." Shivaay intensively coughed not wanting to answer, especially his younger cousin.
"It was a lie. We just wanted to get rid of you." Shivaay answered when his wife nudged him to cover up the good work. "That day was our first date and you were the third wheel."
"Mummy! Bhaiya became dhan paraya. I swear next time I will trouble you guys by joining the impromptu date." Rudra cried dramatically as Shivaay and Annika turned their faces to other sides.
"Rudra?" Omkara composing himself from the high-intensity shock called his younger brother to correct him.
"Yes O"
"It's 'paraya dhan', not dhan paraya."
[Note- I don't know how to translate, because it will lose its essence.]
"It's the same bro." And again he started weeping on the shoulders of his mother who patted him affectionately.
"Kalyani what do you say?" Annika's grandmother Vaidehi asked peeking through her eyelashes.
"As we thought so. However, it was indeed a fast-paced wedding and we couldn't even attend the wedding." Kalyani mumbled with a low delightful voice but it changed when she thought of her billu's wedding.
Annika was flustered with their talks and decided to cling against her husband, who in return pecked her cheeks and fastened his arms around us.
"Shivaay, please no PDA. My poor old cataract eyes." Tej pleaded with his drifted eyes. The one person most affected was Omkara. It was definitely hard to eye his crush so close to his cousin whom he considered as a soul brother. It was harder to comprehend that now she was Shivaay's wife and taken not single.
"Sonu blueberry jam sandwiches?" Shakti asked expectedly while Shivaay facepalmed and shook his head with its popularity.
"So this that stupid sandwich and Sonu, Rudra and Shakti were speaking of," Tej muttered as he glared at his son.
"Papa that's processed jam, it's not like she made it." Envious of her popularity Shivaay added.
"I know. But it's best, only from her hands."
"So will Shivaay and Annika shift to Oberoi mansion?" Omkara tensed up hearing Harsh ask so.
"Well, I want to welcome them properly as she deserves. But considering their need for privacy I want them to stay here for time being." Tej announced and others agreed with him. Nevertheless of their words, Shivaay and Annika were truly embarrassed by their words.
"Today on account of mahashivratri we will welcome Annika as our daughter-in-law. Both will stay for a few days in the Oberoi mansion before heading here." Kalyani added justifying her son's phrases.
"Aap Oberoi mansion chaliye. We will talk there." Pinky notified Arundhati and Harsh.
[Let's head Oberoi Mansion.]
