The rain is so soft
Against the hooches
It flows upon the loft
And clings to the men's remains
The rain falls into the ground
And rolls over the green leaves
Where mix in a pond
And start fiery disease
The charred soldiers breathe through the rain
And march on through the soil
The mine explodes with pain
Soldiers find themselves in turmoil
Johnson remains determined to fight
More parachutes come from the sky
The battle drags through the plight
Of draftees who believed the lie
The phosphorus starts to settle
Soldiers continue like pawns
Bullets continue to meddle
While the rain continues on
