Gabriel felt rage immediately flood through him. He was finally starting to trust her, and she had left him yet again. And when he found her this time...
"You let her get away again?" Levi asked, interrupting Gabriel's thoughts of revenge. "You think you would have learned the first time around."
Gabriel sighed. This didn't seem like a good time to tell Levi that Ash had actually escaped from him three times, not including this one.
"I'm still here," a melodic voice called from another room.
Gabriel and Levi rushed towards the sound of Ash's voice. They found her in a room surrounded by computer monitors, casually swiveling around in a desk chair.
"This is my private office," Levi snapped at her.
"What part of 'stay here' did you not understand?" Gabriel asked, outwardly annoyed, but inwardly relieved. He needed to warn her that other assassins were probably looking for her before she actually decided to run off.
"This is quite the set-up," Ash said, impressed and ignoring both of them.
"Thanks," Levi said, begrudgingly.
"You work for the same company as Gabriel," Ash said.
It wasn't clear whether she was asking, so Levi replied, "Yes."
"Do they have you hack?" she asked him casually.
"Only when I have to. Most of the things I pull our company already has access to. But before I joined the company I did quite a bit."
"Did you have a name?"
"Yes...why?" Levi asked.
"Just curious."
"Rebus," Levi answered.
"Oh sure," Ash said, smiling. "I've heard of you."
"You're a hacker too?" Levi asked, skeptically.
"Mmhmm," Ash replied, spinning in Levi's desk chair. Gabriel tilted his head slightly. He didn't know that. That must be how she knew what she knew, the question she had refused to answer earlier.
"What's your name then?" Levi asked.
Ash stopped spinning to look straight into Levi's eyes. "Phoenix," she replied, watching his expression carefully.
Levi took a step backwards, his expression one of awe and horror. "You? You're...oh my God."
Ash seemed to be enjoying Levi's response. "So you've heard of me?" she said, smiling.
"What is going on?" Gabriel demanded, looking at Ash. Ash shrugged innocently. Levi finally caught his breath enough to speak.
"Gabriel, do you have any fucking idea how dangerous she is?" he asked, his eyes wide. "And you brought her into my house? Oh my God. We're all going to die."
