Hello!
So...I hadn't planned on including an author's note for this book. I fully intended for it to be a fun, simple, dark comedy about an assassin who struggles with doing his job because of one infuriating woman that he can't seen to get enough of.
But I use writing to process the secondary trauma of my job, and apparently my brain decided this book was a good place to process some stuff.
There's still a lot of humor, which I think made me somewhat oblivious to how dark it actually gets. That and the fact I work with violent crime on a regular basis has desensitized me to a lot of things. But now that I'm editing the later chapters I realized that it gets really flipping dark. Beyond, you know, the fact that the main character kills people for a living. So I felt like this note was important to add to give you some content warnings.
This story contains:
-strong language
-multiple sexually explicit scenes, including some BDSM
-violence, including abuse
-mental health disorders
I can't promise you:
* That the characters won't irritate you at times
* That everything will make sense right away (it is part mystery)
I can promise you:
* A female lead and male lead who are both strong and smart (most of the time)
* That you'll smile at least once
* Updates every Wednesday and Saturday (even if it's late at night in my time zone)
Someday I swear I will actually write a nice, fluffy romance where two people are rivals in bar trivia and go to extreme lengths to one-up each other, or something cute like that. And neither of them will have any major trauma and the biggest obstacle they will have to overcome is a jealous ex or a disapproving family member.
This is not that book.
