Nothing Without You

Chapter 7*

I decided to call an ambulance because I had no idea what to do. When they got here they started asking so many questions. How old is he? Has this happened before? How long ago did this happen? The whole thing was just overwhelming. They wouldn't let me see him, they also wouldn't let me ride in the ambulance. I just wanted to know if he was okay.

I have been waiting at the hospital for two hours now, and about 30 minutes ago a couple of doctors called my name. They told me that he was awake, I was about to ask if I could see him but they stopped me once again. "There's some bad news as well," the doctor said. "What? What happened?" I asked. The doctor sighed and said, "Your boyfriend's kidneys failed. Yes both of them." "he should be able to be released in a couple of days once we find a suitable donor." "Do you know of any family members of his who could donate?" "No, not in this country." I said. "But can we test me to see if I would be able to donate?" I asked. "I suppose we could, right this way please." The doctor responded.

As the doctor is taking my blood sample he turns to me and says, "You know, you must be a pretty good girlfriend to be doing all this." I just smiled, not having the guts to admit we aren't actually dating. "Look at that!" the doctor exclaimed. "You're a perfect match!" "That's great! Am I able to see him before we go into surgery?" I asked. "Of course." He said.

I went into his room and saw that he was watching the T.V. that was in his room. I knocked on the door frame and said "Knock Knock" He looked over at me and gave me a smile, "Sorry I freaked you out so much darling, I was already in a little pain that I thought nothing of it" Tom said, I walked over to him and gave him a hug, he was shocked for a moment but he eventually hugged me back. I pulled out of the hug and looked into his eyes and kissed him. I knew that it probably wasn't the best move at the moment but it just felt right. "What was that for?" Tom asked, "Nothing," I said. "You're hiding something, Aurelia, I know I haven't seen you in 4 years but I still know when you are lying. What are you hiding?" He asked, "Nothing," I said again, "Aurelia come on," he said as he grabbed my arm making me sit on the bed next to him, he looked into my eyes and I couldn't resist the adorable chocolate puppy eyes he was giving me. "Just tell me darling." He said, I then said "Okay, so while I was waiting on the doctors to tell me how you were doing they told me that one of your kidneys were failing and they needed a donor..." "And you went to go see if you were a match didn't you?" He said, I nodded, I looked at him and he had tears in his eyes and we were both just gazing into each other's eyes until Tom leaned in and closed the gap between our faces, as we kissed for the second time today.

The doctor walked in a few hours after we talked and asked if we were ready for the surgery.

Tom and I looked at each other and nodded. They took me to another room to prepare for the surgery. As they rolled me into the O.R. I prayed that this would work and that everything after this would be alright.

~~ Tom's POV~~

I squinted my eyes as I woke up and looked around the hospital room. When I turned to my right side I saw Aurelia lying peacefully on her bed, I couldn't help but think about how beautiful she looked. Not that she didn't look beautiful all the time, but as she laid there now she looked perfect. Slowly her big brown eyes fluttered open. I instantly smiled as I remembered our moment before surgery.

~~Aurelia's POV~~

My eyes fluttered open, being greeted by the blinding hospital lights. As I looked around I saw Tom lying to my left smiling at me. I instantly smiled back, feeling much better knowing he was okay. "Hi." I said. "Hi love." He said while smiling even bigger. "How are you feeling?" I asked. "Much better thanks to you." He said. "Well you are very welcome, I now have one less organ to worry about." I jokingly said. He laughed and said, "I will do my best to look after your organ." He responded.

For about an hour I've been struggling to fall back asleep, as I can not find a comfy spot in the hospital beds. After lots of tossing and turning Tom spoke up from his side of the room. "Darling, can you not get to sleep?" He asked. "No, I just can't find a comfortable spot." I said with a tired smile. He smiled back and said, "Yeah, I'm not very comfortable either. Would you like to come over here?" He asked. My eyes widened at his question. "Are you sure?" I asked back. "Of course." He said. "We used to sleep in the same bed when we were younger." He added. "Well... alright." I hesitated. I slowly got up and walked to his bed blushing.

~~Tom's POV~~

After about an hour or two Aurelia fell back to sleep with her head on my chest, I absolutely loved the feeling of her laying on my chest again. We always used to cuddle like this when we were in high school. I missed those days, nobody would bug us because they thought that we were too cute to be disturbed. I looked down and looked at Aurelia and thought that she was absolutely adorable. She had a little smile on her face, she must have been dreaming about something good. I slowly brought my hand to her face and gently caressed her cheek, smiling to myself. I sighed contently and happily fell asleep with her back in my arms.

I am not going to lie. I cried at some of the things she wrote, they were so sweet and so cute. I will try to update as much as I can but school is starting back up and I have to focus on school since it is almost over. I do have after school to write some but I don't have much time. I will try my best to update everything for you guys!
