your pov
a few days passed and i was waking up on a friday morning. it was peaceful because most of us were still in our beds. it was one of our days off from shows so we didn't have to rush around the bus extremely early in the morning.
i heard giggling coming from the bunk above my head and just shook my head. riley had been talking to their new "friend" jace ever since the day they met her at the show. they had facetimed together and talked so much, i barely talked to riley anymore. not that i was worried, i knew that since they were a teenager they were going to have a life.
i could definitely tell riley had a crush on jace. i could read riley like a book. but it seemed that jace liked them back. it was adorable.
"morning, riley." i said to my kid. they stopped laughing.
"sup, mom." they replied and then continued talking to jace. "sorry it was just my mom."
i just shook my head and made my way out of our small room. i went downstairs to the den area and tyler was on the couch. i assumed josh and debby were still sleeping.
"want some coffee?" tyler asked me, joking.
"of course." i said. he then grabbed me a red bull, knowing that was what i truly wanted. "such a lifesaver."
"riley and jace are getting pretty close aren't they?" tyler started conversation. i nodded.
"you should've seen the two at the show. it reminded me of you and i when we were younger." i said. tyler chuckled.
"it couldn't have been that awkward." he replied.
"oh it was. they were adorable."
"well, i'm glad riley has found someone that they're starting to like."
"i just hope they won't be upset when we have to leave chicago." i said. i began to remember when tyler left for college and broke up with me because of long distance...
"i'm sure they'll be okay. times are different now and they have facetime and stuff." tyler assured me.
"any plans for today?" i asked tyler, changing the subject.
"josh and debby have a date planned out so i think it's gonna be just you, riley, and i." he told me.
"actually i gotta ask you guys something." riley chimed in, coming downstairs.
"what's up?" tyler asked.
"jace wants me to come to their house to hang out with her since tomorrow is our last day in chicago. can i go?" they asked us. tyler and i looked at each other and nodded.
"i don't mind, how about you tyler?" i said. tyler looked at me with a confused expression, as if he was surprised that i wanted his input.
"i mean, sure. as long as you're safe." tyler said. riley smiled, widely.
"but, i'd like to meet jace's parents or parent first. just to make sure you're safe." i said. riley nodded, understandingly.
"of course, of course. i'm gonna go tell jace i can come, and see what time she wants me to come over." they said, then disappearing. when they disappeared, tyler chuckled.
"they act like you just made their year." he said. i giggled.
"better get me a mom of the year award." i joked.
"you definitely deserve it." tyler said, genuinely. i just smiled.
"mom, can you and i take an uber to jace's?" riley called.
