Jade's heart leapt in her chest as the door shook under Tori's pounding. Trina hadn't moved an inch; she remained snuggled against Jade's arm.
"Hey. Trina. Wake up."
Trina grabbed Jade's arm and squeezed. "Mmm, Johnny," she muttered.
Jade raised an incredulous eyebrow. "Really? After last night you're still dreaming of Johnny Depp?"
Trina opened one eye and a pretty smile spread across her lips. "Aww. Are you jealous?"
"No," Jade said, failing miserably at hiding her jealousy.
"I was just teasing anyway," Trina said, letting go of Jade's arm and stretching. "Actually I think I dreamed that Tori was here."
The door shook again. "Jade, Trina, hello?"
Trina's eyes widened and looked to Jade. "Oh! Not a dream! What do we do!?"
Jade slowly rolled out of bed and stood. Her legs felt shaky and she was dizzy for a moment. Memories of the night before flooded her mind and her stomach flipped. "I don't know. We get dressed and let her in, I guess."
Jade found Trina's underwear and top and tossed them to her, although she was sorry to see Trina's perfect breasts vanish once more beneath her bra and then her top.
Jade's pants had fallen from the bed; she put them on, then her bra, then found her top halfway to the door.
"Guys, come on!"
"Give us a minute!" Jade screamed.
There was a moment of silence, followed by a meek, high-pitched, "Sorry."
Jade turned her shirt rightside in. Trina joined her, looking very nervous. "What do we say about what happened?"
Jade shrugged. "Tell them the truth. I made you lose control of the car and we crashed."
Trina's face fell. "That isn't what I meant."
Jade realized what she was getting at. It was a question she wasn't prepared to answer because it wasn't something she had ever imagined, much less planned on. Twenty-four hours ago, she was still with Beck. Now, thanks to the strangest circumstances imaginable, she had slept with Trina Vega.
And it had been the best sex she'd ever had. And on top of that, she actually felt herself enjoying Trina's presence. It was as if she had dropped all the pretenses and fake bullshit and was just herself for the first time. And Jade actually liked her.
So, what did that make them? Was it a fling? Did Trina want to continue on? Did Jade? Was it all just casual sex? A relationship? No matter which option they chose, Jade's relationship to her friends was about to change. And that wasn't the most appealing thought, if she were being honest.
"I don't know," she said. "I mean, what was that? To you, I mean?"
Trina looked away. "I...I mean that's a hard question. What was it to you?"
Jade could hardly believe it. She always had an answer, or a reply, or something. And if she didn't, Trina did. Yet here they both were, helpless before their inability to clarify their feelings.
"Jade, come on." Trina's face fell as Beck's voice came through the door. "Are you guys all right?"
A flood of confusion washed over Jade. She wasn't expecting that. At all. Jade shot a questioning glance to Trina, who shrugged. "He's like the only one I didn't call."
"I'm sure Tori told him." Jade turned toward the door. "I said give us a minute!" When Jade looked back to Trina she had turned away and was pulling on her little boots.
