"I wont let them get away with this" Erza said as she stood infront of Sam.
He was laying on a cot in the guild hall's basement, still unconsious from his bout with Gajeel.
His bandages had been re applied by Mira, who had covered his new mechanical limbs. As well as the bruise on his head from where Gajeel had hit him.
"I'll make them pay for what they've done. Every last one" Erza said as she clenched her fists and grit her teeth.
She had seen Sam hurt before. Yet this time was different.
This time another guild had attacked him. A child. HER child was wounded because of a petty rivalry. And it made her blood boil.
She was more than livid. And it was clear to the few people in the room.
Mira had taken Erza to Sam after she came running to the guild hall, having originally come to get Sam as it had gotten late. Only finding the guild in rubble.
Makarov, having taken a break from his drinking joined Erza, despite the buzz he had going.
Erza was cut off from her state of rage by the sound of coughing.
Sam's eyes fluttered open, a purple glow coming with them as they flickered.
Erza near instantly dropped to her knee's, clasping Sam's right hand in her own.
"Sam, are you alright hun? Does it hurt?" Erza asked frantically.
Sam grit his teeth with a nod, glowing purple saliva trailing down his chin.
"Hun...gry" Sam said in a weak and strained tone. As if he were trying to hold himself together.
His eyes sparked and flared with purple energy, his large fangs having begun to glow a vibrant purple as well.
"Well thats alarming" Makarov stated bluntly.
"What's happening to him?" Mira asked, looking to Erza.
"I-Im not sure, I've never seen him like this..." Erza said in a wary tone.
Lucy curiously walked up behind the group, a slight look of concern crossing her face.
"How's he doing?" Lucy asked softly, her voice being just above a whisper.
"Not well, he's burning up right now" Mira explained.
Erza let out a sigh, weighing her options for a moment.
"Sam, you can take some of mine okay?" Erza said softly, placing a hand on Sam's head.
Sam shook his head weakly in protest, earning a slightly more stern expression from Erza.
"Just a little bit to tide you over. Just until I can find something else" Erza reassured, earning a hesitant whimper from her adoptive son.
Hesitantly Sam took in a small breath, his fangs having begun to glow a brighter purple.
At first she didn't feel anything but a small tug at her chest, before a sudden ripping sensation tore through it.
Sam's eyesockets flared a bright purple, flashing periodically.
A bright red energy began to flow from the center of Erza's chest as she collapsed to her knees.
Sam seemed to eat the energy, his glow brightening as he did.
However he quickly cut himself off, closing his mouth as well as his eyes.
Erza coughed and sputtered as the pain in her chest faded, allowing her to breathe.
Sweat ran down her brow and her legs shook. Her breathing was faint, her head was swimming.
Slowly she felt the majority of her strength return to her, her breathing stabilized and she adjusted her position.
"What was that?" Lucy asked in slight confusion, earning a shrug from Mira.
Makarov however seemed to be incredibly focused for his drunken state.
"Erza" Makarov said calmly, catching the Winded woman's attention.
"We need to have a chat" The older man finished, not taking his eyes off Sam.
