A Step

Erza let out a sigh as she finished cleaning the kitchen, the sound of footsteps catching her attention. She watched as Sam rounded the corner, Levi and Mira close behind.

His hands were bandaged tightly, his one arm being wrapped up all the way to his shoulder.

Erza paused in confusion as Sam walked up to her, stopping a few steps inftont of her.

Before she could question him. Sam wrapped her in a tight hug, knocking the wind out of her slightly.

Not having her armor on meant she was subject to the crushing force of his cybernetic arms.

Nevertheless she placed a hand atop his head, crouching down as she did so.

She felt him shaking and breathing heavily as he buried his face into her shoulder.

"I'm sorry..." he said quietly as glowing purple tears began streaming down his face.

Erza's heart sank as Sam repeated himself over and over again, causing her to hold him tighter.

"Hey, you have nothing to be sorry for" she reassured.

"I-I do! I'm a monster!"

"I've hurt so many people!"

"All I've ever wanted was to be left alone! But no one would leave me alone!"

"And now I don't want to be alone, but I might hurt everyone again!" Sam rambled as he leaned back, placing his bandaged hands on his face.

Sam froze as he felt Erza gently grasp his hands, pulling them away from his face.

"Sam. You had no control over what happened"

"Up until four months ago you couldn't even use your magic without getting sick right away"

"You had no one to help you learn to control yourself" Erza explained as the trio of Lucy, Mira and Levy gathered around them. All sitting down.

"You are sorrounded by wizards. All of which can handle themselves"

"If you do end up losing control. We can stop anything from happening okay?" Erza continued, gently placing her hands on either side of Sam's face.

"Please. Please! Never hurt yourself like this again. If you start to transform again and you start to panic, come find me" Erza pleaded in a soft tone.

"And if she's not around then you can come to me hun" Mira stated, catching his attention.

"You arent alone, we've got your back bud" Levy said playfully, softly punching his shoulder.

"Everyone at Fairy Tail does. Including me" Lucy added.

"I may not know you well, you may not trust me"

"But you risked everything to protect the guild, Magnolia and me. That's more than enough reason for me to trust you" Lucy stated, causing Sam to look down.

Just as he looked down, Erza made him look back up at her, placing her forehead against his.

"You aren't a monster. You're a wizard from Fairy Tail"

"You're my son. And I will always love you, no matter what the magic council calls you"
