I haven't seen Mike since June. It was now late July. I was currently laying in bed watching Stranger Things 4. Suddenly my phone starts to ring. I pick it up and see Frances's number.

"Heyy chicaa"

"Heyy"

"My mom was wondering if you wanted to go to Florida with us next week."

"OMG YES! I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO TO FLORIDA" I start to jump up and down on my bed.

"IM SO EXCITED TOO GIRL! My mom said me and Mike get to bring a plus one" My smile instantly faded.

"That's so cool"

"Yea I know. And the friend that Mike is bringing is so fine. I could get some alone time with him and you could get some alone time with you know who."

"Mike!?"

"YES, GIRl! He's so into you"

"How you know?"

"He's been asking 'How's Laila?' 'When is Laila coming back?'" I secretly blush.

"You would let me get with your stepbrother?"

"Yes, girl it's fine."

"Okay well, I'm going to go tell my mom about the trip. Could you text me the details?"

"Of course. Talk to you later!"

"Bye!"

I jump with excitement. I go downstairs to tell my mom about the news I just learned.

"Mom?"

"Yes, sweetie?"

"Can I go to Florida with Frances's family?"

"Sure honey. When?" I go to me and Frances text messages.

"August 5th to August 15th"

"When does school start again?"

"August 20th."

"Yea you can go."

"Thank you!!" I run and give my mom a hug. She's the best mom in the world.

Frances POV

I go downstairs to tell my mom that Laila can go. Brad and Mike are down there too.

"Mom, Laila said she can go." I looked over at Mike and his face lit up.

"Oh, that's perfect!!" She says. I walk back to my room and a couple of minutes later, the door opens and I see Mike in the doorframe. He comes in and shuts the door.

"She can really go?" He asks.

"Yes, dummy she can go." He cheeses hard like an idiot.

"I also told her how obsessed you are with her." His smile drops.

"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?"

"So it wouldn't be awkward when you guys see each other again."

"I'm so confused." I take a deep breath.

"I know that she went into your room the last time she came over here." His face becomes stiff.

"And I know that she didn't come back into my room after."

"Look I didn't know that-"

"It's okay, I don't care. I already gave her my blessing."

"Your blessing to do what?"

"My blessing to date you. BUT only if it's okay if I start messing with John." (His plus one to the trip)

"Deal." We shake hands and he leaves my room but I stop him to tell him one more thing.

"Wait. Do you want her number?"

"Omg, you're a lifesaver. Yes, I do." I type her phone number into his phone.

"Don't screw this up Mike, or I'm going to have to fuck you up." I threaten.

"Yes ma'am." He salutes.

Lailas POV

I'm chilling in my room when I get a text from a random number. I open it and it says

"Hey it's Mike"

"Long time no see" I text back.

"Yea lol. I miss you."

"I know. Frances told me"

"😗 yikes.."

"I miss you too"

"You excited about this trip?"

"Yea. You?"

"Most definitely. Especially since I get to see you again.."

"Lmao😭"
