"Hey, guys! Come see what I found floating in the water outside!" Paul rushed in.
"What is it?" David asked.
"I don't know but maybe it's something good." Paul said as he put it down on the table.
The other three gathered around before opening the basket to see a sleeping baby girl.
The four boys all froze.
"Dudes." Paul spoke after a long moment of silence. "Did the four of us all just imprint on her?"
"A pack mate." Dwayne said softly. "There hasn't been a pack mate in thousands of years."
"Our pack mate is a baby?" Marko said. "Why can't I smell her blood?"
This surprised David as he too took in a whiff but he didn't smell any blood at all coming from this baby. "How is that possible."
"Whoa, she has sick hair, look, someone dyed it blue." Paul said.
Dwayne leaned over and smelled too. "This isn't hair dye, it's real."
"Who the hell is born with blue hair?" Marko asked.
"No blood, unnatural hair, and a pack mate." David listen. "This kid isn't human boys."
"Then what is she?" Marko asked.
"She's ours." Dwayne said as he carefully picked her up. "That should be good enough for us."
"So what do we do now?" Paul asked.
"We raise her as our own and teach her to be a proper pack mate. Dwayne, you know how to take care of a kid right?" David asked.
"Yeah." Dwayne answered. "I had to take care of my younger brother when our dad was drunk. We're gonna need some supplies."
"You and Marko go get them, we'll stay here with her." David said as Paul took the baby from Dwayne. The sound of Dwayne and Marko's motorcycles woke her up but she didn't cry.
"Well hey there blue eyes." Paul grinned.
David looked over and saw she did have blue eyes and he found them beautiful. "She's perfect."
"What are we gonna name her?" Paul asked.
"We'll figure that out when the others get back."
Hours later:
"Holy hell!" Marko said as he brought in as many boxes and bags as he can carry. "I can't believe a baby needs so much stuff."
"I don't think she'll be a problem." Paul said. "She hasn't cried once."
"We're trying to decide what to name her."
The four boys kept saying random names out loud but they were all too overly used or just didn't fit her.
Finally, Dwayne suggested Harmony.
None of the boys know why but that name just seemed to fit her perfectly.
"Yeah, that sounds like a good name."
"Ok, we got a name, what else?" David asked.
"She's a pack mate, we gotta claim her now." Dwayne reminded him.
"What? Now?" Marko asked in disbelief.
"She's way too young." Paul agreed.
"There are other ways to claim a mate." David said grinning at the idea. "But let's unpack her stuff first."
"Does this mean we have to make her her own room?" Paul asked.
"We'll set it up near us." David assured. "If she needs us during the day she won't be in a place that has sunlight." So the boys got to work.
"OW!" Marko yelped as he accidentally slammed a hammer down on his thumb making Paul laugh.
"No one said making a crib was easy." Dwayne said as he took the hammer and finished it himself.
"We wouldn't have to use nails if you idiots didn't lose the screws." David growled.
"There, it's finished." Dwayne said before the mattress, pillow, and blanket went in.
"Alright boys, it's time." David announced.
Each boy cut their hands and had their blood drip into a bottle before David sat down on the wheelchair he enjoys sitting in and cradled Harmony to him before Marko handed him the bottle of blood.
David carefully put the bottle in Harmony's mouth and watched as she began to drink.
"She's all ours now boys."
