Chapter 6: It's not your fault

Xiao POV:

Aether’s running around the park a bit, I’ve never been here but it seems like a nice place, yet it weirdly reminds me of something that I can’t figure out. Nature reminds me of something from my past with my siblings- ”.....my..siblings..the Yakshas..” something starts to form in the corner of my eye, tears? Am I crying? Ah shit, I can't worry others more than I already have, I can't worry Aether, Control yourself xiao. "Xiao? Are you okay, do you want to go back home and talk about it?"

Third person POV:

Aether saw Xiao crying for the first time and immediately went to comfort his dear lover. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have to worry you. You can continue, I'll just sit here." Xiao hiccuped as the tears continued to fall. "Absolutely not, let's go home and you can let out as much as you want." the blonde insisted “I’d prefer that we stay here for now” Xiao really didn’t want to ruin his lover’s day even more than he already did. Xiao started to rant to Aether, at some point he mentioned why he started crying in the first place.

“It was 3 years ago when we were all out in nature, it was a family trip to take a small break from modeling. On our way back home, my older siblings went home in a separate car from me and father because we were buying gifts for them. While we were at the store, father got a call from our driver saying something along the lines of “Please come over to Aocang road Mr. Lapis, it’s urgent” we took a taxi and once we reached there, I saw….” He paused for a bit, swallowing his saliva "I saw my siblings corpses on the road, bloody and lifeless, it was a car crash" tears continue streaming down his face as he pants heavily "I-if only we reached there faster- if only I took better action, they could still be-" He was cut off by Aether hugging him tightly "It's not your fault! There would be no way for you to have predicted the car crash, don't feel guilty for something you have no control on!" Xiao was left speechless, Aether sucked ass at comforting, yet after he said all that, Xiao felt warm inside, safe, it's like Aether freed him from his chains of guilt almost immediately.

Walking back home, the two see a small figure approach them "hm?" The small figure reveals itself to be "A CATT" the blonde shouted out, the cat looked quite similar to him. "Do you like cats Xiao Xiao?" Aether questioned, his lover never really showed any fondness towards cats "They're ok I guess" the raven haired male gave a blunt answer, very on brand of him "Wahhhh, at least try holding it~" Xiao could never deny anything the blonde asks of him….also anything involving cats. His act of not caring at all for the cat completely shattered "dhebevwhwb Aether look at it! I always wanted a cat but never got the chance to get one " Xiao continued to play with the cat as his boyfriend watched "haha cute" the blonde randomly blurted out "it is!" Aether just shakes his head "no no I meant that you're cute~" Xiao went red in an instant "ahem- we should take our leave now" the blonde glanced and saw slight sadness in the amber eyed individual "Xiao, do you want to take in the cat for now?" Oh, Aether could've sworn that Xiao's eyes sparkled as he finished his sentence "Yes! Please tell me that you're serious" he whimpered at the possibility that this was one of the blonde's jokes "Of course I'm nottt" Xiao caught Aether into a warm embrace "Thank you Aether, I love you" he didn't realize that he said that last part, the blonde's brain short circuited but hugged him back "I love you too~"
