Can I Read It?

I always bring a notebook wherever I go, just in case a inspiration popped up. That's where I write my stories. Some people prefer the computer to write their stories but I prefer to write it in a notebook because I'm kinda forgetful, plus I can edit somethings later in the computer. Some people are curious what I'm writing in that notebook and "Can I read it?" is the question that people usually ask me. When they asked that, I usually decline because I'm too shy. However, there are some exceptions. But when I allowed someone to read, it cringes me for some reason so that why I post it in Wattpad instead.

My parents asked that question to me several times.

Mom: Nikki, can I see what you are writing?

Me: Uh... no...

Mom: Why?

Me: I just don't want to and you won't get it.

It happened again last April 10. I was in a trip with my parents and relatives. I was in the balcony writing a chapter of Sticky Notes then my relative was curious why I'm outside.

Relative: Nikki, what are you writing? Is it about everything happening to you? I'm curious.

Me: Uhh... it's fanfiction.

Relative: Okay.

Then he went back inside his room.

It also happened again the next day. I was eating breakfast and my notebook was beside me then my cousin and his friend were obviously curious.

Cousin and his friend: *looking at my notebook*

Me: *eating*

Cousin #1: Nikki, what is in that notebook?

Me: Stories.

Cousin #1: Oh! So that's why she is always bringing a notebook.

Cousin #2: Because she writes fanfictions in Wattpad.

His friend: Can I read it?

Me: No...

His friend: I already read it.

Me: *blushes then flips notebook in the blank side and starts eating again*

And yes, I told one of my cousins what I do in Wattpad. Also, truth to be told, I don't know my cousin's friend's name but he knows my name via my cousin and he knows my FB too. Gawd damnit.

This scene also happened during the trip but I don't know when though.

Mom: You know she (relating to my uncle's niece) reads books too.

Me: ...okay...

Dad: You know, you should let her read your story and help you with your grammar.

Me: I prefer... not.

Even for a collaboration, I prefer to work on my own.

Last night, I was typing the chapter in my old laptop and I told my dad about my progress in Wattpad.

Dad: Woah! Can I read it?

Me: You won't even get it because it's fanfiction.

Dad: Your mom and I could help you in your grammar.

Me: No thanks...

They even believe that my works can be published into books. But I believe that I don't have that standard; also it's fanfiction, not teen fiction. Well, I would write one someday but not today.

That's my story. Eventually that more people will ask me that question over and over again but this is a compilation of the moments that happened recently.
