Filipinos can relate to this joke but I'll try to provide translations.

~Last night ~

Scenario: My mom was looking through the freebies from her credit card using my laptop while my dad was watching TV and I was reading a story from Wattpad.

Mom: "Ay nako, walang tayong pag-asa." ( My gosh, we don't have hope now)

Me: Don't worry, Ma. Meron kaya. (Don't worry, Ma. There is.)

Mom: Talaga? (Really?)

Me: Yeah.

Dad: Yun ba sa weather forecast? (Isn't it the one for the weather forecast?)

[Note: For those who don't know, PAGASA is not only a Filipino word for "hope" but also an institution of the Philippines to provide weather forecasts, flood and typhoon warnings and stiff related to weather.]

Me: Yeah. Hahaha!

Mom: *displeased*

[Note: She actually kinda swore but I won't add that, just because...]

Me & Dad: *still laughing then went back to business*
