Lacey got in her bronco and just drove around for a while, just trying to clear her head and process everything. She had barely talked to Morgan in seven years and now they might be friends again? As much she wanted to hate it she just couldn't. The more she thought about it the more she realized how much she missed him. She felt so much better now she got out most of her anger. She wasn't just going to let him run all over her, what he did was wrong, but she just missed him so much. Maybe they could move past it, become friends again. But, just friends. She wasn't going to let herself fall for him again. She decided that she needed to talk about it with someone and she couldn't think of anyone better than Addie, so she drove home and called her. As much as she loved Harper and Lainey, they just didn't know the whole history.
She told her what Morgan had said and told her that she told him she would think about it.
"Hate to break it to ya, but he still loves ya Lace"
"Addie, no he does not. He just wants to mend things. He has a girlfriend anyways"
"And you have a boyfriend.."
"Yea. Yea. I just didn't say that since you already knew that"
"Uh huh. Or you still love him too"
"No. No no no. He broke my heart Addie, i'm never gonna put myself in that position ever again. But, I do miss having him as a friend"
"I think ya miss him more than that Lace, but you'll never admit that"
"Listen, I called to ask if we should be friends again, not for you to analyze our love for each other"
"AH HA. So you do love him!"
"What?!"
"You just said 'our love for each other' "
"You know what I mean, like when we used to be in love. Even though neither one of us told each other. Well, I mean he did but-. Ok, now i'm getting sidetracked. Should I be friends with him or not?"
"Yes 1000% yes. Don't ya remember how much fun we used to have! And how close y'all were, hell sometimes you went to him when you were stressed and shit before you even went to me! Not to be salty or anything" Addie said, muttering the last part.
"Yea I guess, but I just keep remembering that night" Lacey replied, ignoring Addies usual antics "Don't ya remember how crushed I was. I never want to feel like that again"
"Yea, you cried for days. But, just don't let that happen. Lacey, I really think that y'all need to make up".
"Ok, maybe I'll call him"
"Yes Lacey! Ok let me know what happens. Love ya! Bye!"
Lacey went over to the couch, sitting down and running her hands through her hair, her leg bobbing up and down. She felt sick to her stomach and her heart started racing. Was she really gonna do this? She took a deep breath and said
"Fuck it"
and began looking for his number in her phone. She didn't even know if she still had it. She typed in his name, surprised when it popped up, along with a long string of emojis.
7 years ago- Me and Morgan were laying in his bed, watching a movie when I noticed I didn't have my phone anymore. Looking over I saw my phone in Morgans hand, that signature smirk on his face.
"What ya doin'"
"Oh nothin" he said, smiling and handing me back my phone
I couldn't help but smile when I saw what he had changed his contact too, "Really"? I asked smiling.
"I figured you'd reallyyyy like the fourth one, since I know how much ya like m- "
I cut him off by throwing my hand over with mouth before he could get any further with that comment. He took my hand off his face and rolled over on top of me, kissing me. Both us of smiling and laughing.
Today- Lacey pressed the call button, holding her breath as it rang. After what felt like hours she heard
"Lacey?"
"Uh- Hey Morgan I was wonderin' if you'd like to maybe come over?"
