----------------------------------------------------------
A field.

gold flowers dancing in the cool spring breeze.

there frisk sat, knelt in the golden blanket of delicate petals that stretched for miles. she slowly opened her eyes to a slight red glow, the girl looked down to the warmth in her hands, there sat her crimson red soul

Frisk woke with a start, struggling to catch her breath. that feeling, it was familiar...too familiar, yet she didnt know where from. Her heavy, panicked breathing had caught Sans's attention as he was in the open plan kitchen, he rushed over to her on the sofa and gently held her shoulders with a worried expression "hey, hey look at me, slow breaths, I've got you"

He stayed with her in the same position, not moving until she'd calmed down to let her know she was safe, even though he was normally one to keep to himself and would never admit it, frisk had been the only human he'd ever shown even a hint of interest to, the only one out of 7 billion he somewhat cared about, because she was different...she used to be different. She was the only flower in a garden of murderers and thugs, she cared about peoples feelings, she cared about anything living, frisk was the kind of girl that would put herself in harms way just to ensure something as small as a bug was safe. Within her current fragile state he could see hints of who she used to be, and he missed it, he'd missed her, but HUNT had turned her into the same as everybody else if not worse, the worlds top ranking assassin, a cold blooded killer. but that wasn't his frisk.

once she'd caught her breath she let out a big sigh "I'm sorry...bad dream that felt a bit too real"

Sans shook his head "don't you dare apologize, wanna talk about it?"

Frisk took a minute to think it over than nodded "I was in a field...there were golden flowers everywhere, and I was holding my soul, it was warm, but it freaked me out since its impossible, HUNT has an extensive knowledge on science and they always drilled it into me that the soul is your strongest personality trait and that's all, having it out of your body is extremely dangerous"

Sans looked at her for a second then couldn't help but laugh "some scientists they must have been", frisk looked at him in confusion, he sat next to her on the couch " the soul is a lot more than just a trait, it makes up your whole being, if it shatters? game over. For us monsters we all have the simple standard white, but humans are a bit more complicated, you guys have different colours that correlate with different meanings: bravery, justice, perseverance, all that shit, and they're a lot more powerful than monster souls, hence us losing the war...however there's one soul no human has ever possessed, a red one...determination, most powerful soul ever documented since the human leader all those centuries ago"

Frisk sat for a minute, taking in all this new information, slowly realizing most things she was ever taught were lies, but her mind was also focusing more on the last part of San's speech, she couldn't possibly have such a soul, or even any proof, after all it was just a dream "so if the rest was lies what about the part about taking it from your body?"

"oh its possible, it just puts you in a more vulnerable state since its out in the open and prone to getting attacked, if you'd like I can show you yours" he waited for a nod of approval before making any kind of move to ensure she wouldn't freak out after all this information, her own curiosity pushed her into saying yes, 'its just a dream right? it'll probably be purple or something' was all she was thinking, Sans proceeded to gently outstretch his hand towards her chest, a blue aura emitting from it, she felt a slight tugging as her soul slowly manifested it's way out of her ribcage. After a few seconds it finally appeared, it was dimmer than a human souls usual glow, but there they were looking at a faint, crimson radiance  in complete awe. Sans's awe was slightly more panicked however and he let it retreat back into her body which slightly worried the other "what's wrong?"

"you cant let anybody else know the colour of your soul." he said in a deadly serious tone "if word gets out you're the only living essence of determination you'll be hunted by every monster alive and you'll be taken for experimentation by the humans, no matter who you go to you'll be dead, this has to stay between just us." she nodded, now slightly more freaked out than when she woke up but she pushed it to the back of her mind as she used to do with any other emotion to avoid being TOO vulnerable and instead took a deep breath "it'll be our secret"

in that moment he so desperately wanted to tell her about their other secrets, the ones he'd kept to himself all these years but it let it go with a sigh, vowing to himself that one of these days he'll give her the gift of their memories, he'll remind her who she was, he will get her back.
