Kate's P.O.V

I woke up to a ferocious sound, and a disgusted smell of smoke lingering from downstairs up to my room. I sped up my normal Sunday process of longing at the pastel colors painted on the sky. As well as putting on a pair of flower pink slippers with ease.

You see normally, I have time to turn on my loud, overpowering, and favorite Green Day songs and lay down in bed for a while. I wouldn't dare to go down the inconvenience of my staircase till around 12:30.

My mom would tell me about how amazing breakfast was and how the family had missed my company. That was my mom for you. She didn't deliberately point out that I stayed in my room alone 24/7 but she liked to use several pointless clues to make me feel nothing but guilt.

This morning was different, I didn't take time to "smell the roses."

My hands didn't kindly brush my long brown hair from the surface of my face. They yanked quickly so I could see at least something. I didn't get to see the beautiful creation of the sky. Instead, I saw the darkness of my room. When bolting so fast, I fumbled upon my worn out converse that were misplaced.

Quickly, with a thud I hit my head against my scraped up wall. My collapse had me tightly holding my head. I didn't freak out like I normally did when I felt the warmth of dripping red droplets seek from my forehead. I continued my motivation to get down and see what was going on.

Don't get me wrong, having a throbbing pain and red ooze running down the structure of your face isn't the best way to start your 7:30 am rainy Sunday. Neither does running down the long staircase to sight of red fiery flames and smoke elevating up the remainder of your lovely house.

No time for any questions Kate.

I pushed the thoughts to the back of my. Mind and ran out of the house leaving nothing but my stumbling self. (And of course my phone)

"Mom!" I screamed over the loud thumping of the cold rain.

Each droplet sending chills down my spine. More soaking wet power was pushed down on to our frightened bodies. The smear of my blood plastered on my face was like war paint.

My mom didn't say much. She just stared at the black ashes of my childhood "palace".

It's quiet fascinating how something that took forever to build can be destroyed in only minutes.
