What a beautiful sunset. Perhaps because Canstead isn't a big town, there isn't air pollution at all; the sky is clear as glass. The wind is just right, too. I'm glad my hair won't get disheveled.
I took another fry as I waited for him to light the darkness away. The orange sky was already turning a pleasant purple, fitting for the shining ocean. I've lived in France for a long time, seeing a different kind of sunset is interesting.
"Cover Page," I whispered.
Mint colored lights surrounded the bench I was on, and a man holding a flower basket appeared. He smiled at me as he waited for my command.
"You look beautiful as always, Miss," he said as he bowed slightly.
"And you are charming as always, Page," I took off my sunglasses. "Don't you think it's been a while? Why is the light still off?"
He glanced up, then looked back at me with the same smile, "Would you like me to go check?"
"I'll pay you in fries," I grinned.
When he was about to climb up the stairs into the lighthouse, the light turned on. The beam that would guide ships in the night sky, the white light he was supposed to turn on a few while ago. He took longer than usual, did he trip on his way up or something? I didn't care about that at the time, because there was something wrong.
"Connor...?" I mumbled his name as I stood there confused.
"Miss?" Page said. "I know I've been here for about a week, but I do not think that's normal."
What happened?! Connor was supposed to turn the lighthouse's beacon on and come back down! We were supposed to enjoy these French fries together!
"Page... should we go check?" I asked.
Page walked next to me, he left the stairs. He opened his mouth to reply, but he instantly stopped. We both heard the same thing: footsteps. They came from the stairs. Someone just ran past us when we weren't looking...
Page's smile was no longer there. With a serious voice, he said, "Miss Giselle, I'm afraid something has happened to Mister Connor..."
"I think so too," I didn't have proof yet, but I was certain something had happened. "Because the color of the lantern isn't supposed to be red..."
Scene
Friday - 21st of February
"Don't tell him I know, okay?" Liz whispered behind her palm before we entered the cafeteria.
"Why, though?" Dustin asked. "He'll probably figure it out anyway."
"I just wanna test my skills! If I can fool Ragnar, I can fool anyone!"
"But even if you can fool everyone," I smiled at her sarcastically, "you can't fool Ragnar."
She made an angry face and punched my arm as I laughed. The moment we walked in, I saw Kevin's table. He waved at me, I replied with a head tilt. Ragnar was near the teachers' tables, he was talking with Parlor. This is going to be interesting.
"Y-y-yeah... Mister Holgersson, good day to you too. Do you mind if I were to... umm... sit here...?" Parlor said. I'm not good at reading people as much as Ragnar or Liz, but even I can see that she can't hide her excitement.
Before the smiling Ragnar could answer, Liz spiced things up, "Hey, Ragnar!"
Parlor instantly turned around when she heard a student's voice. "R-Ragnar...? Did you call him by his first name? How disrespectful!"
