That night, when everyone in the village was asleep, Elk tosses and turns, and when he wakes up, he was surrounded by nothing but darkness. He walks around, and he is met when two familiar beings: His animal half and the General, or his human half and they all stand together. Elk sighs, rubbing his head, and he opens his eyes, they were still there, and he frwns, "I was hoping I would wake up. But I guess something is going on if we're all here....again." The General frowns, "Apparently..." The elk looks at the two sides and he steps forward, "I'm sure we're all having the same feeling....about Keres still stalking us."
Elk shudders, "I'm sure I saw her.... Or I might be going crazy." The elk shakes its head, "You're not. That was her... She's gotta be planning something." "Like what? How much more damage can she even do to us? What more does she even want?!" The General was getting restless, and he paces back and forth, and the elk sighs, "I don't understand why she's doing this... She says she fought with us but... why all of a sudden does she want to hurt us?.." Elk sighs, "It doesn't make sense..." The General looks away and he looks down at the ground, "Whatever the reason, we can't let her hurt the twins... we can't let them go through what we went through... Who knows what she could do... She might cause another war that could last for god knows how long...."
Elk looks down, starting to remember everything that happened in his past life. Splitting himself apart, the decades long war, everything he went through and did, he couldn't imagine the twins going through it all. He lays on the ground, "We can't let her hurt them..." He covers his head, and sighs, "They can't go through it..." Tears fall down his face, and that causes Elk to sit up quickly. It was morning and he gets up, wiping tears away from his face and he sighs, "It was just a dream... but I still got to take the warning..." He curls in fetal position, trying to stay calm. He rubs his eyes, and hears someone in the kitchen, and he gets himself up and peeks out the door. He sees Adalie cooking some breakfast and he smiles, sneaking up behind her. He spooks her by grabbing her from behind, "RAR!" Adalie yelps, "Geez, you dang bull! They laugh and he kisses her cheek, "Whatchu cooking?" Adalie gently pushes him, "Food. Now you mister, need to get ready. Kids gotta get to the rift in a couple hours, and I gotta help some centaurs with their booths." Elk chuckles and goes outside, getting himself freshened up.
Elk looks at his reflection in the water as he dries his face and he sighs. He couldn't stop thinking about the dream, seeing his two halves, remembering the war. He could not imagine what Keres would do to the twins that could hurt them, or even worse. He gets up and head back to the cottage. He hears something behind him and he looks back, starting to feel paranoid again, and he shakes his head, "You're just waking up, Elk... Just.... stay awake..." He goes inside, seeing the twins and Adalie with breakfast ready and Elk joins them and Adalie kisses his cheek as she gives him coffee.
