You blinked when you entered your room to find it dark, there were only a few candles burning, which didn't really help you much to see beyond a few meters. The hell?

"Julieta?" you called your wife "are you here?"

"In the garden, amor!"

You jumped a bit, but smiled at the older woman's warm voice and walked over to her. You were always amazed at how huge her room was and although at first glance it looked like just an apartment with a bed, kitchen, and bathroom, there was a door that led to a huge beautiful garden where your wife grew her medicinal plants and where you loved to spend time together.

The garden was a little brighter than the room and you could see Julieta sitting under a tree, with small lanterns hanging from its branches, which made her the center of attention.

"Hey" you smiled as you approached

"Hey"

"What is all this?" you asked noticing the teacups on the blanket.

The brunette took your hand to pull you to sit next to her before offering you one of the cups. You froze when you smelled it: jasmine tea, oh no. She only made jasmine tea when she needed to tell you something serious and important. What did you do now?

"You know I love you, right?" she asked feeling your nerves

"Of course" you blushed "I love you too"

Julieta simply nodded and smiled at you, pulling you closer to her so she could play with your hair while you sip your tea in silence. She knew that she was creating a strange environment, a mix between calm and restlessness, but there was no other way to do this. You needed to listen.

"Dolores came to me this afternoon, worried" she said suddenly

"Oh? Did something happen?" you asked

"Y/N...she heard you" the brunette said softly

She gave you time for the words to register in your mind and she felt you tense as you understood what she meant. Today had been one of those days where you just couldn't find a good reason to love yourself.

It was something you grew up with, if you were honest, hating your body, your flaws, everything. Your wife had done a great job of helping you and making you feel beautiful and loved, but there were times when the hate just kicked in.

And today you had been especially cruel with your words. You had yelled at yourself and insulted yourself while looking at yourself in the mirror, you had cursed yourself for not being good enough for anyone. You had forgotten that your oldest niece could hear you. Damn it.

"Julieta, I-"

She stopped for you by placing her fingers lightly on your lips. She caressed your cheek and planted a chaste kiss on your cheekbone.

"Amor, tonight I want to ask you a favor" she murmured against your skin "it is something that I know very well that as a friend you will understand"

You looked at her confused "Dear?"

"Just for this occasion, I will put aside this thing of being your love" she explained "This time I open my heart to you as a friend"

You felt your pulse quicken and your nerves return quickly but you stayed quiet and nodded, feeling that this was important.

"You know I'll do anything for you"

Julieta took a deep breath and hugged you tightly to keep you from leaving, knowing well that her next words could hurt you, but she needed you to hear the whole message.

"I'm in love with someone you know well and I want to ask you to please let her know. Maybe if you tell her when you see her, she'll finally believe me"

You gasped against her neck and stayed so still that the brunette had to resist the urge to let go of you to check on you. You felt your heart breaking. No, this couldn't be happening, she couldn't be serious!! Was it because you had done something wrong? Because you were younger and clumsy? Or was it because of what Dolores heard? Either way, it hurt, especially because of the soft, calm tone in which she said it as if she wasn't sticking a dagger in your chest.

"W-what?" you whispered trembling

"Help me just this time, do it for what we have" she begged you "You are my best friend I leave it in your hands"

"Julieta-"

"Just tell her how I feel when you see her in the mirror"

You immediately stopped trying to get away from her when she whispered that in your ear. Oh, that... that you didn't expect. You looked at her in surprise, your gaze had a mixture of pain, confusion, and hope. The older woman caressed your cheek again as her chocolate eyes scanned your soul.

"Tell her that she has made me the happiest woman in the world and that I wouldn't change even a second of my life"

Your pulse quickened as her hand moved down to your thighs, caressing up and down. Her touch was soft but firm and it warmed your heart at the longing you saw in her eyes. You let yourself be gently pushed until she laid you down on the lawn with her straddling you.

"Tell her that when I'm away I only think of her, and every awakening by her side is a blessing for me"

You laughed when she started tracing your ribs, tickling you. Julieta smiled as you tried to get out of her grasp, but she only pressed her legs tighter against your hips.

"Tell her never to expect a lie from me, that I love her so much even if sometimes I don't tell her"

The brunette took pity on you and she let you catch your breath before leaning closer to you. You felt your head start to spin from so many mixed emotions and you blushed when you felt her warm breath against your face. She always smelled like fresh pancakes and you loved it.

"Tell her that I will keep my promise" she whispered against your mouth "of love her even when winter is reflected in our skin"

You closed your eyes when she kissed you deeply. Your arms went to her neck, drawing her down to support her full weight on you, and she let her hands rest firmly on your hips. Your wife had a beautiful way of taking your breath away.

"Do you think you can do me that favor?" she asked you when you broke up

"I'll try" you promised, with tears in your eyes. You didn't know how she did it, but Julieta always managed to make you feel better, beautiful and loved.

"I love you, Y/N. You are my most beautiful promise" she said before kissing you again.
