After emerging from the pit of hell, Corey, Catriona and Sarah walked on out of the site, away from the carousel. The fog was slowly beginning to lift as well. The coat of horror was finally being taken off the sky.
Corey walked over to a rusty old table and sat down. Catriona and Sarah followed suit.
Corey played with his fingers for a bit and took a deep breath. He couldn't feel any more happier to see the old town.
"That was... That was a close one." Catriona said, sounding exhausted.
Sarah didn't hold back to say this.
"Who... What was that thing?" She asked.
Corey gulped. He was about to speak, but Catriona held up her hand.
"The monster we faced, was an out of this planet creature, called a Pligow. An evil entity capable of unspeakable power." Catriona replied, without going into too much detail.
Sarah nodded slowly, pretending to understand.
"She..." Catriona said, then struggled to speak.
"...The monster took your Arthur." Corey replied. Sarah stood up. No hesitation. She stared down at them both. She shook her head slowly, she didn't want to believe what she was being told. But given how deadly the creature was, she'd knew nothing else could ever explain his death. So she sat back down, then tears came flowing out of her eyes.
Catriona went over to sit beside her and invited her in for a hug. Sarah accepted and cosied up towards her, letting her tears drip onto Catriona's jacket. Then, tears too came from the corner of her eyes. But Catriona wiped them away.
A couple of minutes later, Sarah slowly pulled away, and then used her sleeve to clear away the tears from her cheeks.
"I do recall..." Sarah said.
Corey and Catriona listened up.
"...When he wasn't home from work. There was this..."
"Take your time, Sarah, take your time." Corey encouraged her.
Catriona nodded, agreeing with him.
"There was this, kind of, bad storm. The lights was out." Sarah spoke.
"As I was going to bed... I heard a knock on the door. At first, I thought it was the wind, but the door was knocked again. and again. and again. and again." Sarah explained.
"As I opened the door... there was this lady..."
"She was in a state. I had to let her in. But after that... I don't... I don't remember what happened after..."
"...after that." Sarah finished.
Catriona identified what has happened.
"You were captured." She added.
"You..."
"She took you with her. And threw you away in one of those houses." Catriona spoke and looked ahead.
Sarah's eyes filled with tears. But she didn't cry this time.
"That is a miracle." Corey added.
"You managed to survive." He added again.
"She didn't..."
"She didn't kill you..." Catriona said quietly, reflecting on the horrible events in recent weeks.
"...which is... more than I can say for some of us." Corey replied weakly then bursted into tears. Catriona went over to hug him in. And then... so did Sarah. "I'm so sorry, I can't help it." Corey added. "Hey, Hey, it's ok. Let it out." Catriona reassured him. "Don't blame yourself for any of it." Sarah.
Several moments later
"I think... I think we should... get going now." Corey stated.
"Agreed." Catriona added.
Sarah nodded slowly and then, they all left the streets.
After
As Sarah waved goodbye and started heading up the hill, Catriona, was about to head into her car. "Catriona!" he exclaimed and rushed over towards her. Catriona paused and turned to face Corey. His heart was beating quite the rate he never experienced before.
"Hey..." She spoke, smiling the politest smile she offered.
"I... I..." Corey stuttered.
Catriona threw her keys on the seat and walked in towards him. He held her cheeks by the two thumbs and rubbed them around in circles. His eyes, drowning with tears, stared back into Catriona.
"I guess this is a goodbye." Catriona said, with a tiny bit of sadness in her voice.
Corey just stood there and looked at her.
"Look, Corey... This has been nice, but, I really do need to get going." Catriona spoke softly as she rubbed his delicate and bristly hair. Corey's heart was beating too fast to think about anything.
Then, Catriona slowly pulled away from him and returned to her car.
But before she got in...
Corey ran over to her, and snatched her by the arm. They got in closer together again and started to snog the hell out of each other. As they continued on, Corey said: "I don't think I can ever leave...". Catriona giggled and pulled away. "Then why don't you move in?" She suggested. Suddenly, Corey started bouncing up and down. "Really? Are you sure?" he asked, to make sure he was hearing this correctly. "Why not? Our connection is unbreakable." Catriona smiled. "Awwwww... Thank you, thank you, thank YOU!" Corey exclaimed.
