Corey and Catriona proceeded further into what awaits them. The darkness and silence that surrounds them completely wraps them up in complete isolation from the world. Although not that far from the village above, the limited vision that beds into their soul maintains the atmospheric covering for the destination they are about to set themselves upon.
As they made their way to the old town, Corey stopped in his place.
Catriona looked back at him and asked: "What's wrong?"
Corey was suddenly shaking. His body was vibrating, he thinks he's going to collapse at any minute. Catriona walked over towards him and wrapped her arms around him. "Take your time." She encouraged him. Corey tried to settle with Catriona, but he doesn't feel right with it. To be honest, his mind is consumed with his troubled past.
Catriona slowly pulled away from him.
Corey wiped his eyes. Even though there was no present evidence of tears coming from the corner of his eyes, he feels there will be coming.
"I'm sorry. I just... I just feel... so overwhelmed." Corey said and scratched at his hair. Catriona pointed at a nearby bench. "Wanna talk?" She asked.
Corey sighed with relief. And sorrow. But sighed sorrow mentally. They proceeded to the bench and sat down.
"What's on your mind? Is there something bothering you? Is it this place?" Catriona added.
Corey found it difficult to speak. All of the tragedies that arose since their interference with the place. And by "their", he refers to his past self. When he and the rest of his friends decided to trespass the streets. "I wish I hadn't gone in there in the first place." Corey spoke, with the slightest bit of guilt tripping over him.
"Hold on Corey. It's not your fault." Catriona replied and held his arm as he continued to speak.
"I was so stupid thinking going in there was a good idea in the first place! If only-"
Catriona interrupted him.
"Hold on." She spoke.
"I will be honest with you. Yes. You shouldn't have entered the premise." She spoke.
"...But, you shouldn't say if or but, this will only drive you even more self destructed." Catriona added.
Corey could feel the tears coming through his eyes. For real this time.
And then... he bursted into tears, and flooded his cheeks with it.
Catriona pulled over to him and held onto him like a precious jewel.
Then, out of complete nowhere, Catriona gave him a kiss on the forehead. Corey looked up, and made eye contact with her. Then, he pulled her in closer, and kissed her on the lips.
Catriona couldn't resist. She let him take hold of her, and then, they were so attached to each other, like magnets attracting metal.
Eventually, they pulled apart.
