Taylor's POV:

"So, what you're telling me is that you and your husband-" My mom cut the officer off mid sentence.

"Ex-husband." She had no emotion. Her face was as straight as her hair.

"Excuse me. Ex-husband. He came into your home while your daughter was home alone and threatened her with a gun?" The officer questioned as though he didn't believe a word she was saying.

"Yes. That's what I said." She still has yet to express and type of feeling towards the situation.

*knock*

"That's Hannah. I'll be back." I got up from the couch and headed to the front door.

Something was telling me it wasn't Hannah standing on the other side of that door. I wasn't sure who it was, but something wasn't right.

I open the door and stood in front of me is Mattia.

"W-what are you doing here?" I said surprised at the fact that he was here and not Hannah.

"I heard what happened." He said with a worried expression. I wasn't sure how he found out, but I had an idea.

"You shouldn't be here." I responded trying to shut the door.

Don't get me wrong. I was happy to see him. Yet, for some reason I felt that now wasn't a right time for him to be here.

"Wait, please just let me be here for you." He stopped the door and I opened it back.

This time I stepped outside to have more of a one on one conversation with him while my mother continued to be questioned.

"Are you okay?" He questioned.

"Trying to be. It just sucks you know? I thought he changed. He was getting better at not being such a dick and then he goes out, gets drunk, and ends up like this?" I could feel the tears coming on, but I tried my best to keep them in their place.

Suddenly, I felt that I couldn't trust the man standing in front of me. What if he ends up exactly like my father? What if I think he's changing, but he really isn't? What do I do?

"Hey? Did you hear me?" I had no idea what he had said, but I must've been obvious with the questioning in my mind.

"Huh?" I came out of my trance and he tried repeating himself, but from behind him I watched my mother come out of the house with officers behind her. Arms behind her back, still emotionless.

"Take care of your brother." She mouthed.

"MOM! NO, SHE'S INNOCENT. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?" I immediately ended the conversation with Mattia and ran towards the cop car.

Why is she being arrested for protecting me? Is this my fault?

I began banging on the police window, before they drove off with lights flashing.

I immediately ran inside and grabbed my keys. I was not about to let them take her wrongfully.

I grabbed my brothers arm and ran back outside where Mattia was standing in straight confusion.

"Are you coming or not?" I asked him before he began running towards the car.

I have no idea what I'm gonna say to these officers to get her out of there, but I will not be returning home alone. I knew that for sure.
