| Taylor's POV |
"Sweetie where are you?" My mom asked walking into my neighbor's home.
"Here." I said sitting on the couch waiting for my mom to come around the corner.
"Are you alright?" She asked looking me up and down to make sure I had no injuries.
"Yes, but dad is back in the house." I say this because I watched as my father stop shooting into my neighbors home and walked back over to our house.
"Oh lord. Alright, I'll be right back okay?" She began to get up and help her hand up behind her as a way to tell me 'stay here'.
I nodded and watched as she walked out of my neighbors home.
About 20 minutes later, I hear gunshots go off in my home. I immediately got up and threw the blanket from around my shoulders that my neighbor had placed.
She tried to stop me from leaving my home, but I was more worried about my mom than my own safety.
I went from my neighbors yard to mine and reached the front door.
I opened the door and the scene I saw before my eyes was not one I had expected to see.
On the floor was my father in a pool of blood. Above him, my mother holding a gun in her hands, aimed at my fathers now lifeless body, and my little brother standing behind her.
I'm assuming he waited in the car while my mother checked on me. He then did the same as I had when the gunshots went off, but was just a little faster than I because of my neighbor.
This was a sight that I had not expected to see when I had walked in.
Is it bad to say that I was kind of relieved at the fact that my abusive father had now died?
My little brother grabbed the house phone and began to dial 911. My mother still stood in shock. I grabbed the gun out of her hand and placed it on the table before I sat her down on the couch.
My first instinct was to call...
"Hello?" I heard Hannah on the other side of the phone.
"Can you please come by? I really need someone right now." I said.
I wasn't crying because I wasn't sure if I was sad about this. My brain wasn't exactly comprehending the fact that my own father had just died because at this point I saw him as an enemy. Not my father.
"Of course. The boys and I will be over in-" I cut her off.
"No. Just you." Hannah was really the only person who had been there for me since day one. I didn't feel it appropriate to have my whole friend group come.
"Oh, uhm..yeah alright." She told me she loved me and hung up the phone.
Minutes later I heard sirens pull up in front of my house. I opened the door and saw two police cars and an ambulance.
Time to explain what had just happened.
