"what must it be like to grow up that beautiful?"
harry is buttoning up the bronze buttons on his shirt when he gets a text.
the text reads: "where are you? i'm getting impatient... and hungry." it's his best friend, louis, who he's supposed to be meeting for lunch.
they've known eachother since primary school.
ever since then, harry has been in love with the aforementioned beautiful blue eyed boy.
he's been pining for him since before he even realized he was pining for him. i mean, how could you not. he's the most gorgeous man on the planet, inside and out. he has the softest cinnamon-roll-like hair and the best smile you could ever imagine. he's kind and funny and a bright ray of sunshine.
scratch that, louis is the sun.
and trust me, harry isn't the only one who sees his charms. everyone is in love with the one and only, louis tomlinson.
it's like he's gold in the 1850s. everyone and their mother wants him. the boy is the definition of riches, he's a prize to behold.
it's always been this way. everyone has always wanted louis and his "less attractive" best friend has always been in the shadows.
harry doesn't know what exactly makes him undesirable to people, he just gets the feeling that he is.
he's not unattractive in any way. he's very great on the eyes. but always being right by louis' side kind of drowns him out a little bit.
it doesn't help that harry is quiet, shy and reserved.
well, with everyone but louis.
you see, with louis, harry is a completely different person. he is louder and cracks more jokes. he even plays the guitar in front of him, which he has never, in the entire history of his time on earth, ever done for any other person.
louis is his other half.
and sometimes he can't help but imagine what it would be like if his feelings weren't so unrequited. harry is always drowning in the what-ifs.
what if louis feels the same? what if harry tells him his true feelings and it all works out? what if the two boys are meant to love one another?
but then there's also the bad what-ifs. what if louis doesn't feel the same? what if they stop being friends? what if louis gets mad at harry for his true feelings.
and louis is harry's only friend, so he can't risk anything.
he's soon awakened from his daydreaming by a loud blaring horn outside.
take a guess as to who that is.
the one and only louis william tomlinson.
harry rushes down the stairs and says goodbye to his mother.
as he steps out the door, he notices what a nice day it is. it's summer so it's sunny but it's beginning to cool off because it's almost fall. harry loves this time of year.
he just graduated and soon he's gonna be off to uni. he's very excited about that. him and louis are both going to manchester university. louis has always loved manchester and always wanted to go, and harry follows his every step so it just makes sense that they'd go together.
harry opens the silver car door and is greeted by louis' signature "hello, love!"
"hi, lou. how's your day been?" harry says back with a bright smile.
"it's been great. had breakfast with mum and mark. went to the park with lottie and the twins. it was a good day."
"i'm glad you had fun, mate."
"hey, are you okay? you seem off."
instead of telling the truth harry decides to say a measly yes. instead he wants to say that no he's not okay and he is never okay when he's with louis because all he wants to do is grab him and kiss him and tell him that he's loved him ever since he was 12 years old.
but he'd never do that. because that would be crazy. but also because harry is a pussy.
once they arrive at the quaint diner in their small town of holmes chapel, louis gets a call. it's his girlfriend, eleanor.
harry hates her.
but not for the reason you might think. i mean, yeah, she's dating the boy harry is madly in love with but she's also a stone cold bitch.
nobody likes her. she's got that cold-hearted regina george thing going on.
the worst part is she has tried to split harry and louis up too many times to count.
after they arrive at the cafe for lunch, louis gets a call from eleanor. typical. she has an emergency and knows that the two boys are hanging out but says she "takes precedence."
so louis leaves. but there's a look in his eyes that makes harry want to burst into tears right in that moment. he looks tired.
and after that harry and louis don't talk for two weeks.
that is, until louis texts harry and says: "i'm outside."
so of course harry gets right out of bed and it's like his feet have taken control and he has to listen. he just goes.
when harry opens the door to his home, there's louis, smiling his signature sunshine smile.
they stand there for at least 30 seconds just smiling at eachother.
"i broke up with eleanor," louis finally says.
"wait, what? then why are you so happy?"
"because in doing so, i realized something."
"which is...?"
"well, harry, turns out..." he pauses. he looks confused and in disbelief. "i really have no idea how to say this."
harry wants this to be what he thinks it is but he won't take his chances.
"i'm in love with you."
boom. with those five words harry's whole world implodes in front of him. this is the best day of his life. everything is golden and warm.
harry isn't afraid anymore.
so, he grabs louis' face and plants a light kiss right on his lips. then, it extends and becomes more passionate. they melt into eachother like milk chocolate.
harry breaks the kiss. "oh yeah, um... i feel the same."
louis smiles wide, eyes filled with pure happiness. He takes hold of the back of Harrys neck, pulls him in and kisses him again, muttering
i love you
