A/n : they're adults in this but tell me if you want a kid Timy x reader :)

You had been working for three whole years in the Wilson Museum, and never, never you had the chance to see your bestfriend Tim, arriving late, but today was different. He had came in late.

You knew Tim since you were both eleven, you had became friends with him when he first started talking about dinosaurs, swearing he had met some and even escaped from being killed by velociraptors. You were the only one to believe him and eventually you started spending a lot of time together, and you ended up studying in the same major. You had even fell in love with him, but he didn't know that. To him you were just his bestfriend.

When he finally walked into the museum, you felt the need to annoy him.

"Timothy Murphy, did you encounter a velociraptor on your way here ? How and why are you late ?"

He sighed. "Thanks for bringing up pleasant childhood memories, Y/n, but no, I just didn't hear my alarm going off."

"Really ? Man, that wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be." You groaned.

"What, you thought I was gonna be like "there's a whole ass T-Rex in the street so I came in late" ?" He scoffed.

"Maybe..."

He stared at you, annoyed.
You playfully hit his arm.

"Come on Timy you know I'm kidding !"

"First, don't call me Timy or I'm gonna go in fanboy mode and rant about dinosaurs. Second, I need to get ready for the tour I'm about to give to some elementary school students."

You mocked his way of talking. "First, hey Timy ! How are you Timy ? Timy Timy Timy Timy ! Second, good luck with that, and watch out for the ones that pick their noses, nasty little goblins these ones."

"Yeah thanks and did you know that the dinosaurs that are drawn in books are not always historically accur-"
He got cut off by one of your colleagues chiming in. That was too bad, you actually liked hearing him talk about dinosaurs, it felt like you were eleven again.

"Ready for tonight's party ?" Your colleague said.

"Tonight's what ?" You answered.

"The museum is having the annual museum party tonight, remember ?" Tim spoke.

"Shoot, I didn't remember that. Are you going ?" You asked your bestfriend.

He just shook his head and you patted your colleague's shoulder. "Then I'm not going either, sorry man."

Your colleague whined "Come onnnnnn, you guys are no fun."

You looked at Tim with an interrogative look, to which he simply shrugged. You knew what is thoughts on the subject were.

"Okay we'll come...but just for a bit, then we're leaving." You spoke.

Your colleague danced, feeling victorious."Dress well, the boss is super serious about outfits for the party" He then left, leaving you and Tim alone.

"I swear one of these days I'm gonna use the Murphy family power on that guy." He said, sighing.
You just laughed to that statement, and he started laughing with you, proud of the fact that he had been funny.

"Mr. Murphy ? Timothy Murphy ?" A voice behind you asked. You turned around to see a woman with a group of children. "Hi, I'm Mrs. Judson, I'm the teacher that called you about a museum tour ?" She hesitantly continued.

"Right ! Sorry I came in a little late, I'll be right with you !" He smiled. That bitch. He was finally smiling and it wasn't even for you. You just left to do what you had to do, leaving him with the class, but while walking away, you turned and faked picking your nose, reminding him to watch out for the kids that go boogie hunting in their noses. He tried to hold in a laugh, and you kept walking away, proud of yourself.

*At the end of the day*

You had finally finished work and you went home to change into a more formal outfit for the party at the end of the day. You quickly got ready and went back to the museum. When you walked in, the hall was completely decorated. You spotted your bestfriend in a corner and went up to him to talk.

"Hey cute kid" you smirked.

"I thought you were gonna stop with that nickname." He replied.

You patted his shoulder. "...nope !" You chuckled. "Come on Timy, there's loud music, and people, everything you love in this world !"

"Right, my favorite things, music that could destroy your ability to hear and boring people. Love it." He said sarcastically.

"I don't get you, Tim, you used to be such a nice and energetic kid, what happened ?" You asked.

"Look Y/n, people change. I was just a stupid kid back then, being all cheery and annoying, other kids hated me for that."

"But I never did."

"Y/n that's not the problem."

"It is ! I just saw you go from the kind and excited nerdy kid to..." you pointed to him."..that."

He scoffed. "And something's wrong with that ? Sorry if I'm trying to adapt to the world, we grew up, Y/n." He became quiet for a second. "...at least I did."

You felt angry. How could he ?

"What the fuck do you mean by that ?" You spat.

He stared at you. "I mean that we're different now, and you have to admit that I'm more mature than you, you're acting like a kid right now."

"Excuse me ?! Oh so you're more mature than me ? You grew up and I didn't, that's it ? Well if you think that way, maybe we shouldn't be bestfriends anymore since we're so different."

His face decomposed. You started leaving.

"Y/n wait no, listen, please don't-" he whined.

You turned around."No Timothy fucking Murphy, you listen. I have been trying to stay friends with you ever since we were eleven. I became bestfriends with the weirdo of the class, believed him, and always stayed with him, I just...I can't stay friends with what you became, you're not my bestfriend, you're...you're somebody else." And on these words, you kept on walking towards the door to exit the museum.

Tim had stayed frozen, until something took over him and he just screamed something. Something that paralyzed you.

"Y/n I love you !"

These few words made you stop in your tracks.
Everyone was now looking at the two of you.
He talked lower.

"You don't want to be my bestfriend anymore, so I doubt you'll ever want to go on this path" he chuckled sadly. "But I needed to tell you, I love you since the day you looked at me and you said "I believe you", and I'm sorry about what I said, I didn't mean it. Sometimes you're way more mature than me, and I guess it's hard for me to accept." He shot you a smile full of regrets and sadness. "I...I promise I'll change if you need me to, go back to the good ol' Timy if you want me to, just...please don't leave me, Y/n."

Your eyes were blurry because of the tears that were threatening to fall from them. You heard Tim sigh behind you, he was probably thinking that you were gonna say no, that you were gonna say "leave me alone", but instead, you turned back and ran to him, grabbed his cheeks and crashed your lips together. He kissed you back. You had been waiting for that for such a long time.

Finally. You loved him, he loved you. The rest of the guests started clapping. They had been waiting for this moment too, you and Tim pulled back, laughing at everyone's cheers.

A/n : so that was cringe.
