Meeting under a tree

Flying around the city at night was probably the best in Valin's eyes. Seeing the city slowly fall asleep, lights shutting off and the sound of traffic slowly quieting down for the night. As the city slept, Valin worked. As he flew around the city, he would dive down to different structures and buildings and pick up dread puffs. These cotton ball sized puffs are filled with all of the negative energy you can think of from people walking past. They feed off of it actually. Collecting these puffs makes a jelly for the most evil creature in Hell, the Queen.

Slowly plucking puffs off of an apartment building in the city  and with Valin's bag slowly filling up, he flew off to a mountain far out of the city's reach. This mountain holds one of the few places where you can enter both heaven and hell in the same place. Coming to a halt, Valin slowly flew to the ground as he held onto the bag. Once on the grass, he opened a portal to Hell and casually jumped inside to drop off his bag.

Walking in this hot and damp place, he quickly made his way to the factory. As he walked, he accidentally bumped into another demon.

The other demon spun around and shouted at Valin, "Hey! Watch it, asshole!" Not one to start a fight, Valin  quickly sputtered an apology and practically ran away.

Valin wasn't like a normal demon, he was polite and gentle compared to the other demons in Hell. Like now, others would have started a fight with the rude demon but not Valin, he would apologize and bolt away hoping the other wasn't chasing him, and this time, he got lucky as the demon scoffed and walked away.

Finally Valin made his way to the factory. Dropping off his bag at his workstation as he walked by he could hear the screams of pain coming from the jelly making line. Valin shuddered as he thought of the next  time he had to work that line. He quickly made his way out and back on the mountain with no other incidents. Getting out of the portal and closing it, he took a deep breath and walked to his tree.

This tree sat at the edge of the mountain cliff and looked over the city. It's where he likes to go after a day's work. He was tired, well more like exhausted from working all night. It's a beautiful place to just sit and relax, which is what Valin wanted to do.

Once getting to the tree, he sat down leaning against the trunk of the tree and let a sigh of relief escape. Now, this was what home felt like. Even though Valin was living in hell for as long as he could remember, it never felt like home, this place here did. He couldn't explain why. Maybe it was because he didn't have to act mean around others or he could  finally relax here. He wasn't sure himself but right now he was sure he felt at home.

No one to bug him. Just him and the stars.

No one comes up here at night, not creatures and nor humans either.

He was alone... or so he thought.

With a branch breaking, Valin practically jumped out of his skin. Jumping to his feet and darting his eyes towards the thing that made the sound, His pupils pinned as the person walked over grumbling to themselves about a flower? It was an angel! The demon was taken aback, angels didn't come down off their clouds of happiness to come down here to  earth. Once the angel saw Valin, he was taken aback as well. The angel's hair lit up at once seeing the demon.

" Holy shit, it's a demon!" The angel swore in front of him. He was surprised, angels don't swear.

" oh look, an angel that swears!" Valin said, kinda mocking the masked boy in front of him. They both stared at each other until the glow stick spoke up.

"Aren't you... gonna kill me?" The boy asked, confused.

"Oh, I'm not really... into that," Valin explained as he stood up, ready to leave.

" Wait, uh.." the angel walked forward as Valin was about to take off.

"Yes?" Valin looked back at the nightlight.

"Uh.. well, i'm confused. Why aren't you calling your demon men on me to kill me? Aren't demons supposed to be in groups?" He asked.

" Well, yes but I'm off the clock and I just wanted to enjoy the view before I have to go back." Valin explained, wings only half open, ready for flight but seeing as the angel wasn't any real threat he didn't feel the need to flee as fast.

"Well, this was for a big ass dare so, i just need a flower and i'll be on my way mr. Nice demon man." The angel said, looking around.

" Valin, and you can find some near the road over that way. I believe they're daisies." Valin remarked, closing his wings as he got ready to sit down again. Once the angel came back with a flower in hand, he asked

" Who is Valin, demon boy?" Rudely asked the angel.

"Me, I'm Valin. 'Mr. Nice demon guy' might get me killed, so you can call me Valin," He replied, sitting down under the tree, waiting for the angel to leave so he can have his peace. Valin sitting in the quiet as the wind danced through his hair, thought the angel left. Nope, the angel sat down next to him.

"Cassius."

" What?"

"My name?  My name is Cassius, and don't call me Mr. Bad angel cuz that might get me put on pills." the angel laughed and then sat down next to Valin.

"Thanks for the hint on where the daisies were," Cassius said, holding the flower up in the air.

"You're welcome. Why were you dared to get a flower, if you don't mind me asking?" Valin asked, looking over at the angel.

"Well I'm not entirely a good angel." Cassius said. Valin noticed that as Cassius talked he moved the flower round in his right hand while his left was left to rest.

"Really? I couldn't tell." Valin's tone was laced with sarcasm.

"Shush, I'm serious!" Cassius said, shoving the demon a bit. Not hard but strong enough to make him move a bit.

"In the words of the watchers, 'that brat is bad news. Should have given the seed to the fae.'" Cassius mocked the high ranking angels. Valin giggled, as Cassius mocked them.

"But ya, I'm a fucking terrible angel," Cassius ended, staring at the flower in his hand.

"Well, I'm not necessarily a bad demon either." Valin added.

"Wait, really?" The angel asked, pulling his attention to the demon. Stars were in his eyes as he spoke.

"Yeah. I don't normally swear  and I apologize way too much. Heck, I'm more of an angel than you are," Valin giggled as he looked at Cassius.

"Oh and I'm sorry for acting so cold at our first meeting." Valin smiled, tilting his head a bit.

"It's ok, and I see what you mean. Valin, you are a nice demon." Cassius said leaning back on the tree.

"Thank you? You're not too bad of an angel after all." Valin said copying Cassius. Right then they realized that they were more similar than they thought.

One too nice for a demon and one too mean for an angel. Maybe they'll get along better than they first thought.
