Two hours after the incident. I woke up in a cold sweat and the blood had gone form my face. To spare the details, I looked completely messed up. My cheek was covered in scratches and long cuts, and my eye was the worst bit, it was bloodshot and looked almost completely red. Every time I cried, there would be a faint tint of red in my tears because of my bleeding eye socket. It hurt and sucked but I dealt with it. Leo had told the school that I had started the fight by smashing the tray over him and then he acted in self defence and the rest of the damage was from when I fell. Bull crap. Honestly. The school bought it though. My dad was called in. He didn't know who to believe but, sadly, he grounded me anyway. Yippee. That meant no body hunting, no money, and disappointment. I was allowed to do anything I wanted except leave the house (it wasn't a harsh punishment cause my dad still had his doubts about what REALLY happened at school). I was restless though. I told my dad I loved him and went to bed at 9. I didn't sleep. I waited till 11:00 when my dad was asleep and I quietly phoned Paul and woke up Beth. I had almost NEVER broken any rules before. So ignoring my punishment felt like it deserved a death sentence. But, I had to live with it. We got flashlights and slowly we both left the house, Paul waiting outside. We had to be VERY quiet, our dad was a light sleeper. One slight creak and he would be on our tails. We barely made it out and got on out bikes to head out to the seafront.
~~~
We arrived at the seafront at about 11:12 (my house wasn't that far from the seafront) and we looked at out phone were the pictures were for were the fishermen were last seen. It said on the crate piling dock, which conveniently was right next to were they were.
"I'm not too sure actually guys. It's the middle of the night and we-" Said Dave.
"Can it Dave!" Me and Beth said in sync.
We chuckled because it seemed like something out of a cartoon. The moment passed and we found the area we were supposed to be at. We cycled over and started exploring. There were different coloured crates and metal tanks stacked all over the dock, and the floor was damp and wet, with the occasional large puddle spread about. There were also oil tanks with dew drops on them which dripped on the ground, splashing in puddles, adding to the creepy atmosphere. Our flashlights were the only source of light and everything else was practically complete darkness.
Suddenly, we reached the end of the dock, and there were no bodies.
"Sorry guys. Probably been cleaned up by now or taken by the tide. We can have more adventures soon."
I said reassuringly.
They both nodded and we walked away, we weren't sad but just a bit disappointed. As we walked away, we noticed that there had been a rise in fog, it was so heavy it looked like artificial dry ice or smoke. We walked and walked for what seemed like hours, but the dock never ended.
"My feet hurt. When do we get out." Moped Beth in a tired voice.
"I'll check my watch I bet it hasn't been that long." I said calmly.
I looked down at my watch but the clock hands weren't pointing at anything, they just spun around so quickly you could barely see them.
"Damn watch... hey it's broken!" I said frustratingly, smacking it while looking down at it.
I bumped into Dave while I was walking.
"Hey Dave, why did you stop?" I asked, looking up.
Then I saw. The dock had stopped. It was just water ahead.
"We must've gone around somehow. I'm sure it's nothing!" I said shakily.
I was sweating, I was horrified. We turned around and just as we started to walk that way, we saw the dock ended there as-well. We were on a piece of rock, on stilts, surrounded by crates, in a huge body full of water. Something DEFINITELY wasn't right. We were surrounded by water. Beth started to cry and Dave stood in shock. I held both of them and said it was going to be okay.
We all knew I was lying.Suddenly, under the water, bubbles started to appear. The water swayed and more and more bubbles came up. Beth closed her eyes and I held her tight, Paul started to cry. Quicker than a flash of light, several tentacles erupted out of the water, swaying above it, doing nothing. The fog was still around us, the tentacles faded it away a bit. Our platform started to shrink, we had less space to stand. Finally, after every tentacle had appeared, something else started to rise out of the water. Something mortifying. Something that watched us. A huge bulging, eyeball. It was just a massive eyeball with tentacles. I started to cry as-well, I was scared for my life, bloody tears ran down my face as I closed my eyelids as the platform under us shrank more, and more and more, until Beth, fell off into the water. And Paul fell after that, I screamed and cried. Blood dyed the puddles and water under me. The platform shrunk one last time and just before I fell into the water, one of the tentacles picked up me up and brought me close to the eyeball. Suddenly, images and symbols rushed through, my brain as the eye stared into my soul, it was like it was giving me knowledge. Transferring it's thoughts to my brain. I was horrified, for sure, but something about this creature (although it had just most likely killed my sister and friend) seemed almost comforting or nostalgic. Like an old friend. The transfer stopped and the Eye hung me high above the water, I looked down, afraid of what was inside it, I shut my eyes and I felt myself being let go by the tentacle, dropping down into the deep, dark ocean...
To be continued in the next chapter (part)
