Shadow's/My POV
It was a nice day out; the birds were singing, the leaves danced softly in the wind, and a pond of water trickled nearby. It was comfortably warm too, about sixty-eight degrees fahrenheit.
I had always loved being outside, especially when it was raining or was a comfortable temperature like today. Something about it was always so much more calming than bright, sunny, about seventy degrees and above days. Is that weird?
Anyways, I was sitting on the park bench, checking all my notifications. Everyone was telling me how things were going; whether it be people or environmental problems. But everything seemed to be fine today, so that was nice.
Then there was a small rustle in the bushes nearby. My ear twitched, but there was no point in looking; I already knew who it was.
Finally, said person sat down beside me. I hadn't expected the timing and ultimately flinched.
"Hey, it's just me," the guy assured me. "You're a jumpy one, aren't ya?" I turned to face him with a small sigh, scratching the back of my neck awkwardly.
"Heh, sorry. Just wasn't expecting it I suppose," I explained with a small laugh. He smiled.
"As they always say, 'expect the unexpected.'"
"Yeah, I know. Anyways, what'cha need?" I inquired, cocking my head to the side. The man frowned and looked away.
"L-look, I know this is sudden... very sudden. But if you're free tonight, could I have the pleasure in taking you out to- dinner?" He asked, with small pauses here and there.
I thought about it for a second before saying, "Sure," with a small shrug. His face seemed to light up by my answer and he stood up.
"Great! I'll see you at 7." With that, he turned to leave.
"Wait, where should we meet up?" I asked, stopping him. He thought about it for a moment before turning back to look at me.
"Does Dad's Damn Diner work for you?" I nodded. He smiled again and left, practically skipping away in joy.
I smiled and shook my head in amusement. Though I knew how this would end, it was good to have fun while it lasted.
Peter's POV
I couldn't help but have a big smile on my face. Catching Shadow in the park was super lucky, especially since she was always busy.
But I finally had the chance to talk to her. We were even going on a date later! This just so happened to be my lucky day.
Shadow's/My POV (Again)
I had arrived at the Diner at 6:55, just five minutes earlier. In all honesty I could've waited until 7, but I didn't really care.
I sat down in one of the booths, letting the waitress know that I was waiting for someone when she asked for my order.
Just as she left, I grabbed out my phone. I was mostly making sure that I still had the Jewel shard, which I did, but oh well. I decided to play on my phone while waiting.
About ten minutes had passed, and someone darted inside, looking around. We both caught each other's eye and I waved him over, a relieved look on his face.
He sat down across from me, holding a long white box in his hand.
"S-sorry I'm {huff} late. I had to stop by somewhere real quick," he breathed, glancing at me with an apologetic look.
"You're fine," I told him with a dismissive shake of my head. He smiled and slid the box over to me.
"Here, I got you something." I grabbed ahold of the white box and took the top off. Inside were two blood-red roses. They were de-thorned and tied together with a silky, black ribbon.
I closed the box and looked up at him. "Thank you," I told him. He smiled.
In return, I used some magic to teleport one of the Moon roses from my garden into my hand. He stared at it in awe as I handed it to him.
"What is this?" He asked.
"It's a Moon rose. Bill made them for me soon after I made the deal with him," I explained.
"Who's Bill?" He questioned, looking back at me with a small frown.
"Just a friend," I told him with a dismissive wave of my hand. He nodded and set the rose down.
"Anyways," I began. "We never introduced ourselves."
"Well, I already know who you are Shadow. Who doesn't?"
"Someone who's been living under a rock their whole life," I said with a small laugh. He smiled.
"Welp, to be fair, I already know who you are as well Peter." Peter smiled.
"Guess we didn't need to introduce ourselves after all," he chuckled. I smiled.
"Guess not. Anyways," I sighed, getting to my feet and grabbing the box. "I better get going." I quickly wrote my number on a small piece of paper with a pen and gave it to him. "Text me and we can hang out tomorrow, 'kay?" Peter nodded, grabbing the paper and shoving it in his pocket.
With that, I waved him goodbye and left.
Peter's POV
Peter watched as she left, ears pricked and tail low. Even though she carried a dagger on her at all times, she acted like everything was normal. But then again, you never know when something bad might happen.
As soon as he was gone he looked down at the rose she had given him. It had navy blue petals that faded into silver, quite pretty. She must've had an abundance of these if she gave him one for free, but he didn't mind. He liked it.
Grabbing the rose, he got up. Reminding himself to text Shadow later, he left.
