Shadow's/My POV
We arrived at the bookstore by the time it turned 4:00. I knew it took awhile, but I had honestly forgotten just how long it took to get to Barnes and Noble. Shocking, huh?
Anyways, Peter parked as close to the entrance as he could and we climbed out of the car. After locking the car doors, we walked up to the entrance.
Once we got in I excitedly grabbed Peter's hand and led him over to the Manga section. I hadn't quite had the time to read book 1 and 2 of My Hero Academia quite yet, but I didn't care. Besides, it was nice to be able to read all the way through a series without having to wait forever to get the next one.
While I looked and walked around the store, Peter trailed behind me. He didn't seem intent on going off to find anything for himself, but I didn't mind. It was fun to answer his questions and see him smile whenever I got excited.
Just as we ended up back at the Manga section, two people approached us. One was slightly taller than the other with green hair, a black beanie and glasses. The other was female with pink eyeshadow and a pink, sleeveless crop top.
"Um, hello. Shadow Pierce, yeah?" The green-haired one asked.
"Mhm," I hummed with a small nod. "You must be TK. You're non-binary, right?" TK was a little surprised but they nodded their head. I noticed the small blush on their cheeks but said nothing as the female spoke.
"Do you know who I am?" She asked excitedly, grabbing TK's arm. I let out a small laugh and nodded.
"Yes, Lucy. I know you too." Lucy smiled.
"If you don't mind, could we be friends?" TK asked timidly. I gave them a soft smile and nodded.
That's when Peter placed a hand on my right shoulder. I glanced at him, surprised, but said nothing.
"Sorry, but my Darling and I best be going," Peter said. I could tell that he was holding back anger, but still I said nothing. What was the point? I was done here anyways.
TK and Lucy gave a nod. With a small wave, they turned and left.
With that done, Peter and I made our way to the counter. I placed the books in my arms on the counter; which just so happened to be book 3 and 4 of MHA, Firestar's Quest, book 12 of Wings of Fire and book 5 of The Unwanteds. I paid for the books and then we left.
Peter's POV
As we made our way back to my car, I couldn't help but shoot glances at Shadow. She looked quite happy, her head held high and joy shining in her eyes. And as much as I would love to help her, she'd definitely refuse my offer to carry the bag for her.
Once we got back in the car she began playing music again. I shot her a smile, to which she smiled back, and I began the drive home.
