Fiona's POV

Shortly after we all came to an agreement, everyone soon went to sleep so we could rest up for tomorrow. Throughout the whole night I could only think about what could happen in New York, truly debating if I had made the right decision.
I couldn't help but still hear the scratching echoing off the walls, the vibrations from hundreds of them keeping me awake even when I tried my hardest to sleep. I didn't get to fully embrace my slumber until the sun started to rise, beyond irritated when I woke up to Ash shaking me aggressively for no certain reason.

"You never did tell us why you ended up here of all places." Richard asked Ben as he finished off a can of corn. Ben had woken up before everyone else and was up and attem, looking out of the window at the multiple wandering zombies dumfoundedly walking around.

From my spot across the room, I watched as Ben hesitated to speak. He looked like he had something in mind to say, but instead chose to bury it.

"I've got a sob story like everyone else." He looked from the window over to Richard.

"Got in a tough spot like you and been here ever since. I don't plan on leaving any time soon. It's the only familiarity I have."

I couldn't help but try and put my own feet in his shoes and understand his situation.
Still, the scratching and urgent need to be eaten still played in the back of my mind as my anxiety spiked with every croak and screech. It felt like if I listened anymore I would go crazy.

I don't feel safe here...

"So, what's the plan?" Curt's husky voice filled the room. He was fully packed and ready with Milly by his side panting lightly.

"I've got some flares hidden in a box over by the fridge. Figured if y'all went up the roof hatch then I could destract them."

"That's a huge risk to you though, you could get killed." I butted in.

"I've done it before don't mind me." He reassured, although my opinion didn't budge. I flicked my orbs over towards Curt's who gave me the same knowing look.

"A-are you sure this will work?" I couldn't help but question.

"You can trust me, Fiona. I wouldn't do anything to get you and your daughter hurt." He looked at me sincerely and I tried my hardest to let my walls cave in.

It's just a simple plan. You can trust him...

You need to get Ash out of here....

I sighed, nodding in agreement as I glanced over at my daughter.
"As long as she's safe."

"Y'all are gonna need some supplies if you wanna make it past here..." Ben stood up and made his way over towards multiple boxes stacked up. He took the top one down and focused on the one below it as he opened it and started rummaging through it's contents. After a few seconds, bullets and multiple rounds of ammo filled his large calloused hands.

"Take whatever you need. I have plenty." He then sat them down on the table before walking over to the box that was at the top and started pulling out multiple flares from it.

"I noticed they pay attention to the smallest thing that catches their attention. These flares work well if there's a big group of them. You can take some of these also." He gave us handfuls to take with us, making sure we each had a decent amount of everything. Richard was especially grateful to finally get his own weapons and have a proper way to defend himself.

"You positive about all of this?" Richard debated.

"Absolutely. Can't keep all of this for myself. There's plenty."
