*No one's POV*
"Everyone fall back!" Gunshots and voices filled the parking lot as four men made their way closer and closer to a large building behind them. Rows and rows of zombies made their way towards them as their automatic weapons gunned them down.
"Look out!" A woman shouted as she poked her head out of one of the large glass doors that was boarded up. She had warned one of the men just in time as one of them infected had been creeping up around him from behind. He quickly placed a bullet into its skull, spraying the rotten flesh onto his dirty plaid shirt.
"Don't waste all of your ammo, head inside!" He shouted as they continued to back away from the zombies. The wave seemed too big for them to handle and risking it to kill them all would be too dangerous.
The woman holding the door opened it further for them to reach safety, grabbing onto one of them and hugging him tightly."Thank God your okay!" She sighed heavily before checking to make sure he was okay. He hugged her back just as tight before he leaned away and kissed her lips, grateful that he lived another day to see her.
"I'm okay babe I promise." The blue eyed girl looked like she had tears in her eyes as she tried to let his words sink in.
"I thought I was fixing to lose you." She breathed, her emotions getting the best of her. The young man smiled gently, swiping his thumb across her cheek and moving her bright blonde hair from her face.
"You don't need to worry about me. I'll be okay I promise. What I need you to do is not be so careless and do what you did. You could have gotten hurt." A small smile crept up on her lips and she nodded. "If I hadn't of did that you might not be here right now. But it was careless of me to put myself and everyone else in danger. I'm just glad your safe." She hugged him once again before pulling away and taking his hand.
"Everyone alright?" He looked around and met all pairs of eyes as they all nodded, only small splatters of blood dotted on their faces.
"Yeah all good." A young man with green eyes and dark brown hair spoke up. He reached into his bag and began pulling things out. "I didn't get a whole lot but I managed to find some cans of food at the old church around the corner." He placed a few cans of mixed vegetables and pineapple chunks on the reception table beside us, emptying out the contents of his bag.
"Good work Zach. Jordan and Antonio you two find anything?" The long haired male with tanned skin began emptying his bag which consisted of baby formula and cans of beans; Something we were all grateful for considering formula is rare these days. Jordan also began to empty his bag, although he found rubbing alcohol and some triple antibiotic instead of food.
"Alright, we'll just add it to the rest and go out looking again tomorrow. Zach you lock up, I'm fixing to get some rest."
"Tomorrow? Baby you barely made it back today! Y'all can't keep going out there everyday it's getting worse and worse." Those big blue eyes looked into his with desperation as the other young men left the room. A sigh left the young man lips as he pinched the bridge of his nose in concentration.
"Jewel listen to me. There's too many people here for us to afford not to. We have to make sure we keep our ration supplies stocked or else there won't be enough to feed everybody." The girl looked down in defeat even thought she didn't wanna believe it was the truth.
She nodded as he led her up the marble stairs, wanting nothing more than to rest before he has to go back out there and do it all over again.
"Just pretty please make sure to watch yourself and stay safe. I can't afford losing you right now." He smiled and rubbed her knuckles, guilty from how much he loved when she showed she cared about him. In a world like this now days when is there room for love?
"Let's just go get some rest okay? You don't need to be walking all over the place in the open like this." She smiled slightly an leaned into him as they made their way down the dim, concrete hallway towards their shared room.
