Skylar
"Get up and put on something nice. We're going out," Calum demanded, barging into my, well his, room.
Since I'd been released from the hospital three days ago, I'd been staying with Calum. I wasn't going back to live with my stepdad anytime soon.
"Where are we going exactly?"
"To the movies. I invited Michael, Ashton, and Luke," he smirked.
I rolled my eyes. "I don't like Luke."
"Whatever you say, Sky. I'll be downstairs. Wear something nice!" he called on his way out of the room.
I threw on a sundress and applied a little makeup before heading downstairs to grab my sandals.
A car horn beeped out in the driveway.
"Ashton's here!" I yelled to Calum, walking out the door with him in tow.
I climbed into the back seat, in between Luke and Michael.
"Hey," Luke greeted.
"Hey. Do you know what movie we're seeing?" I asked.
"Ouija!" Michael piped up from my other side. I glared at Calum. Horror movies were not my thing.
"I hate you Calum," I mumbled. He laughed.
"Sorry, Sky. Don't worry, we'll protect you," he winked.
I rolled my eyes and laid my head on Michael's shoulder until we pulled into the cinema.
I sat back against the uncomfortable theatre chair, mentally preparing myself for the worst.
Luke sat beside me, laughing quietly.
"It hasn't even started yet," he pointed out.
"I know, but I hate horror movies," I whined. Just as the words came out of my mouth, the lights went dark and the screen lit up.
Not even ten minutes into the movie I was already scared out of my mind. Luke must've noticed.
"You okay?" he whispered.
I slightly nodded.
"Oh c'mere," he said, lifting up the arm rest that separated us and pulling me into him. I hid my face in his chest, focusing on him rather than the horrid scenes playing on the screen in front of us.
I could feel his hand gently playing with my hair. All of the sleepless nights in the hospital were still catching up with me, making my eyes heavy. I allowed them to close, letting myself drift off into a light sleep.
"Shh, let her sleep. She hasn't slept in a while," I heard someone say. Calum, I think.
I could feel myself being laid down on a bed, but I was too tired to protest.
I rolled over, making myself comfortable in the sheets before drifting off to sleep once again.
I was standing in front of my stepfather. A look of pure evil occupied his face.
"Miss me, Sky?" he sneered. I tried to back away, but ran into a wall.
I let out a small whimper, covering my face and preparing myself for what was to come.
Instead of coming at me, he turned to look at someone else.
Luke.
He took a step closer to him.
"Luke!" I yelled.
He gave me a sad look.
"Sky," he said, just as my stepfather took a swing at him, hitting him right in the eye. He yelped in pain. I tried to run to him, but was stuck in place.
"Luke!" I screamed before everything when black.
I shot up, tears coating my cheeks. I was back in my bed at Calum's house.
I heard the door open to reveal a worried Michael and Luke.
"I'll be downstairs," I heard Michael whisper to Luke.
Tears were still streaming down my face as Luke walked across the room and pulled me into his arms.
"What's wrong?" he said, his voice thick with worry.
"I just- I," I sobbed.
"It's okay, we don't have to talk about it," he assured.
"Please don't leave me," I whispered.
He pressed his lips to the top of my head.
"Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere."
