"I don't know, she just kind of kicked me out," I explained to a confused Ashton.

"I'm sure there's a re-. Is that an ambulance in her driveway?" he asked, standing up and walking over to the window. I followed close behind, curious to see what he was looking at.

An ambulance was in her driveway alright, and she was the one being wheeled into it. Calum followed close behind, a worried expression coating his features.

"I have to go make sure she's okay!" I exclaimed, eyes wide.

"Why are you so hung up on her? Didn't you just meet her yesterday?" I rolled my eyes, but tried my best not to snap at him. He had no idea about the call.

"I'll tell you some other time. Can you just take me, please?" I begged.

He nodded, grabbing his keys off the front table. The whole ride to the hospital was silent. I felt like I was going to suffocate.

As soon as the car was parked, I jumped out, practically sprinting to the front desk.

"Hello. How can I help you?" the lady at the front desk asked kindly. She had long, blonde hair and piercing green eyes. They reminded me of Skylar's.

"Sir?" she asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Oh uh sorry, I'm here for Skylar Johnson," I said.

"Room 240," she responded, tapping away on her computer. I nodded, "Thanks."

I grabbed Ashton, who was intently staring at a painting on the wall, by the wrist and dragged him into the elevator with me.

The ride to her floor was silent, only the awful elevator music quietly ringing in my ears.

I practically sprinted out if the elevator, afraid the walls would close in on me if I stayed in for a second longer.

My eyes searched the hallway, looking for room 240. I knocked on the door timidly, not sure if I was welcome. After all, she had just kicked me out this morning.

The door swung open to reveal a puffy eyed Michael. He gave me a nod before stepping to the side and allowing Ashton and I to enter.

"I'm going to get myself something to drink. You two want anything?" he asked. We shook our heads in unison.

"Okay, see you later."

Calum had taken a seat on the edge of Skylar's bed. She looked so small lying in the large room.

"I'm just gonna wait in the car. I feel like I'm intruding," Ashton said, breaking the silence.

"You don't hav-" I started.

"No really. Just text me when you're done." With that, he was gone.

"Hey, I'm sorry if I'm bothering you. I can leave if you want, I just wanted to see if she was okay," I said to Calum. He looked exhausted.

"No I'm sure she's glad you're here."

"So, uh, why exactly is she here?" I didn't want to push, but I felt awkward not knowing anything.

"That's not for me to tell. If she wants to tell you when she wakes up, that's up to her. Sorry." I nodded.

"You look exhausted. Do you want to go home for a little? I'll stay I promise."

He looked a little hesitant, but nodded anyways. "If you're sure..."

"A hundred percent."

"Okay, thank you. I'll be back later tonight," he said before giving a small wave and heading out the door, causing it to slam.

Skylar shot up in her sleep.

"Cal?" she called out.

"No, it's me," I said softly. "Calum went home for a little while. I told him I would stay." She nodded and pulled her blanket closer to her body.

"Thanks for coming. I'm sorry about earlier," she said, her head down.

"Don't apologize. Are you okay?"

"I've been better," she laughed dryly.

"What happened?" I blurted. I couldn't hold back my curiosity any longer.

She fiddled with her fingers before looking up.

"You really want to know?"
