Yamaguchi Tadashi tried his best to focus on the vocabulary worksheet in front of him. It was the last period of the day and luckily it was study hall. Unfortunately, Yamaguchi had been having a hard time with his nerves the last few days. Loads of study guides and practice tests rendered him into an anxious burnt out blob.
On top of that, graduation was only a month away, and soon, he would be going on to his first year of high school. At least I'll be going to the same high school as Tsukki. He thought. If I can pass these stupid exams ughhh... All of his worries came crashing down. He kept listing the things in his head over and over, as if that would help.Finals start on Tuesday and end on Saturday, English is at 2pm in class 3-a, advanced sciences is on friday at noon, calculus is friday at 3pm in the testing center, must rememebr to bring the calculator that can do the formulas or else I wont be able to take the test. I'll need to bring the worksheet we got yesterday to my world history class on Thursday and I need a black or blue ink pen to take the test, and I need a... Frustrated, Yamaguchi cupped his face with both hands and leaned forward onto his desk. Pressing the flats of his palms into his eyes trying his best to calm his nerves.
"Yamaguchi?" A voice, deeper than his own, spoke.
Yamaguchi let go of his face and jerked his head up, turning toward the voice. Sitting near the window, looking straight at him was his best friend, Tsukishima Kei.
"Ah! Sorry Tsukki..." He said while forcing a meek smile. Tsukishima grimaced. He could always tell when Yamaguchi was worried about something. They had been best friends ever since 6th grade. Tsukishima began opening his mouth to say something but was suddenly cut off by a loud chirping voice.
"TSUKISHIMA-KUN~" A group of three girls surrounded Tsukishima's desk, seeming to come out of nowhere.
"Tsukishima-kun, what are you doing after school today?" One of the girls with a long pony asked cheerfully.
Tsukishima clicked his tongue at the group. "I'm busy today." He said with no real detectable emotion. All three seemed to swoon at his cold demeanor.
"Well, we are trying to get a group together for karaoke after school, maybe you would want to come?" Another girl, this one with curled pigtails asked. Yamaguchi watched as his best friends eyebrows furrowed. The girls continued asking questions as Tsukishima let out an exhausted sigh. He gripped the oversized headphones around his neck and pulled them up over his ears, completely ignoring the group of girls.
All three let out and auditable "aww~"
Yamaguchi giggled to himself, familiar with his best friends mannerisms. The girls seemed to not take the hint, almost seeming to like Tsukishima's aloof attitude towards them. Before Yamaguchi realized it, the girl with the ponytail had turned around, now facing him. Yamaguchi quickly looked back down at his desk, pretending to focus on his homework.
"Yamaguchi-kun, where do you and Tsukishima-kun hang out after school?" She asked.
The other girls, one short with a black bob and the other with curly pig tails, circled around as well. Nervously, he answered, "Oh ahh.. we usually just go to one of our houses...after school..."
His voice trailed off. Yamaguchi's body started to feel hot, his cheeks seemed to be burning. A thin layer of sweat suddenly covered his whole body. "S-So yah I-I need to study." He nervously grabbed his pen and placed it to the paper. He was never good at dealing with being put on the spot.
"Oh, that can't be all you guys do..." The one with short black hair pressed."Don't you guys go to the arcade or anything?"
Yamaguchi's breathing became more difficult. His nerves now reaching an all-time high for the day.
