As it turns out, as much as you preferred winter over summer, you preferred the antonym of fire over water even more. You'd gotten sick over the side of the boat at least six times in the past hour, and the loud, harsh winds were making you crave a quiet library and earthy fireplace more than ever before. Which was never. Before. You'd settle even for just solid ground. You wanted to have two feet on the earth more than anything. You might even have sold a foot or two for that privilege.
Really, you'd rather one of that legend Yoimiya's famous fireworks explode in your hands than have to spend another minute on this boat.
Suddenly, a blow was dealt to your back. The sudden jolt of your system caused your gag reflex- already on high alert- to sound its alarms, and you barely stopped yourself from throwing up the seventh time.
"So, how's the sea treating you, Sailor!" Beidou yelled above the wind. She retracted her hand from your back. Good lord, how strong is that woman's arm? You thought to yourself, pity rising within you for any pickle jars she'd ever been begged to open.
"Great," You groaned, rubbing your throat with one hand as if that could calm the rising bile. "Just fantastic really."
"I can see that." Beidou chortled. You sent her a side eye,
"I didn't think that you were the type to revel in others' pain, captain." You joked, the jab of an optimistic tease draining the already weary remains of your energy.
"We all have our faults." Beidou replied humorously. Before you could manage a retort, your conversation was cut short by one of Beidou's sailors.
"We need you back up front, captain! We're nearing the shore and the wind's picking up. Little Miss Wimpy can't monopolize all of your time!"
"Hey!" Beidou called back, her protective authority reflexes kicking in. "That's Little Wimpy to you! Drop the 'miss' or I drop you overboard," She turned to face you for a quick pause before turning back to the flustered sailor. "But uh- I'll be right there."
"So sweet," You said to her, half sarcastic, half genuinely appreciative. "But you didn't feel like dropping the 'wimpy' too?" You offered a weak, but pointed and partially accusational smile.
"Hm. Must've forgotten to mention that part." Beidou said lightly, eyes trailing away from yours in an obviously weak attempt at a lie. She then turned and trotted off to the front of the boat, leaving you unimpressed and no less sick than before.
At least you were nearing shore, though.
Soon enough, the boat docked at Inazuma City's ports. You leaped off the hull before anyone could stop you and face planted on the docks rather elegantly. Then you scrambled over to the nearest patch of grass in sight and thanked it profusely for its existence in this universe.
"I'm so sorry if I ever took you for granted." You apologized to the green foliage, before promptly throwing up all over it. You wiped your mouth and popped up on your feet as if nothing had happened, energy still restored from your escape onto land despite having just emptied your guts. Again. And hopefully for the final time.
After chatting with a merchant by the docks, supposedly connected to their delivery, Beidou adjusted her satchel on her shoulder and made her way over to you. She chuckled at your cheery disposition.
"Should I take your hatred for boating personally, or.." She asked jokingly. You shook your head. "Good, well me and my crew are going to finish up here and then head to our hotel. You good on your own from here?"
Hotel... Hotel? Ho...tel? You repeated in your mind for a few moments before the realization that you had no idea where you were staying broke through your unprepared brain. Oops.
