"Sir, please calm down." Jane said to the man.

The man whipped around, a look of fury crossing his face. "HEY! MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, BRAT!"

Jane frowned. "Excuse me? This is my business. I'm not gonna wait around for you to get your ten dollar refund. Stop bullying the guy and give someone else a try!"

The man clenched his hand tight around the vendor's collar. "HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY!" He roared. "Kids like you should learn to keep your mouth shut!" He pointed at Jane and Seraphinus and activated his ability.

Ah, crap.

"Look, dude, I'm not trying to start a fight!" Jane protested, holding her hands up.

"Let's go somewhere else." A green haired girl muttered. "This isn't worth the wait."

"You should've thought of that before insulting me!" The blond haired dude hissed.

Now you're just making stuff up!

"Okay, I'll apologize, now let's talk things out." Jane said.

The dude smirked. "Why? Are you scared suddenly?"

Uh, YES!

A purple glow lit up in the dude's hands.

What's that in his hand? Condensed energy? A shot like that could do some damage... he did score a four after all!

Jane suddenly noticed a security guard nearby and smiled. "Go ahead."

Confused, the guy's smirk faded.

"If you'd really wanna fight, I'd be happy to oblige."

Why isn't she powering up? The guy thought. He glanced over at Seraphinus. And that boy, he keeps smiling to himself...

"What are you waiting for?" Jane said.

The man snapped. "DON'T TRY TO BE FRESH WITH ME, BRAT!" He was about to launch the energy he had in his hand when suddenly Jane yelled.

"SOMEONE HELP! THIS CRAZY MAN IS GONNA BLOW UP THE BOOTH!"

"WHO YOU CALLIN' CRAZY?"

"Sir." The security officer grabbed hold of the guy's arm and stopped him. "What's going on here?"

The man furiously pointed towards Jane and Seraphinus. "They-!" Jane held up her hands. "We were just waiting in line! Then he suddenly threatened to blow up the booth so we spoke up!"

The man swiveled his hand towards to ability gauge vendor. "That's because she scammed me of my money!"

"Calm down sir, I'll take it from here." The security guard narrowed her eyes towards the vendor.

"So it's you again? I'm getting sick of your bullsh*t! Return the money you took from this man now!"

"But-!" The woman protested.

"Don't make me repeat myself." The security guard said.

Miserably, the woman handed the guard the money. The guard leaned closer. "I'm warning you... if you ever start trouble one more time, I'll make sure you never do business here again! Here you go, sir." She handed the man his money.

The man smiled. "Thank you so much, ma'am!" "Just doing my job." The man left.

"You two better stay out of trouble!" The guard said to Seraphinus and Jane before she left as well.

It doesn't matter where the evidence points...

the result is still the same.

"Sorry." Jane apologized to the vendor. "We didn't mean to cause you more trouble."

"There's no need to worry about that! I appreciate the gesture." She smiled. "Not many people are willing to speak out nowadays, so thank you. I assume you two are here to have your abilities read?"

Jane smiled. "Yep, he is!" She pushed Seraphinus towards the table.

"Great! I'll give you a free shot, it's the least I can do!"

The vendor took Seraphinus's hand in her own. Her smile widened. "Incredible! Your ability level is an eight!"

Hmm, so she gauges abilities through touch.

"It's been a while since I met someone as strong as you." The vendor continued. "You're very gifted, sir!"

"Um, thanks?" Seraphinus said.

The vendor pulled out a teddy bear. "And here's your prize! A cute little bear for a cute little guy!"

It's about as much as the fee...

"And what about you, young lady?" The woman reached for Jane's hand, but she quickly pulled it back. "Ah," The vendor said sheepishly. "S-sorry, I should've asked for your permission first."

"It's no big deal!" Jane shrugged. "You wouldn't get anything from me anyway!"

Seraphinus put the bear in his bag.

"Feel free to come back if you ever change your mind!" The vendor called. "Ok, sure, thanks!" Jane replied.

As Jane and Seraphinus left, the woman smiled slightly to herself.
