First Bloom

It was my beginning. I opened my eyes to a cold, bright world. There were three other teens beside me. It was so cold, and I was wondering why we were here, without any other form of warmth but our cloaks. I looked to my right and I saw one woman, she looked very old and almost like she was dying. I knelt to her side.

"Closer..." she said, her voice softer than a whisper. I got closer.

"Take us away from this coldness, light the Earth, and bring happiness back. Thank you for replacing me."

She evaporated into the air leaving nothing but her floral scent. I got to my feet and looked behind me. There was one woman and two men, they each had a son or daughter of the same gender. The woman and her daughter each had blonde hair and wore a silver band around their heads. The woman wore a yellow full length dress with spaghetti straps. Her daughter wore a cloak similar  to mine-full length, and it crossed at the chest- except hers was yellow and it had a sun embroidered on it. To their right stood a man who wore a cloak of orange, red, and yellow leaves. His crown was grand and made of twigs with leaves continually falling off of it, his clothing was just red crushed velvet. His son had tan skin and blonde hair, a robe like mine that was orange with a red leaf. To their right was a tall man with blue clothing, and an almost-white-blue-cloak. His crown had delicate snowflakes on the top, and blue jewels encrusted into it. His hair was a surprising white, not quite a white that you get as you age, but a natural one. His son had black hair that was starting to turn white, green eyes, and blue cloak with a white snowflake. They looked at me as though they were expecting something from me, but the winter boy didn't look like he knew how to look, so he just looked away from me.

"Well?" The winter man said, "Are you going to do it?"

"Do what?" I asked, surprised that I could make that sound

"Honestly, Leif, these new generations are getting stupider and stupider. Make the first bloom of spring, of course!" He said to me

"How do I do that?" I asked

"How would I know? Do I look like I know how to make things warm?" He gestured to his clothing

"No, sorry." I felt stupid

"Well," the autumn king said "Flora used to do it by touching the ground or a tree and willed the bloom to grow."

I assumed the woman I was speaking with at my beginning was Flora. I walked over to a nearby tree. I touched it with my finger and it melted all the ice and snow off of it. Then all of it's leaves began to grow.
