I had such a confusing day yesterday. I was marrying Spencer, but Jesse liked me too, and I couldn't be friends with Boy anymore. I decided that I would still be friends with Boy, to spite Vera and it was the easiest problem to fix out of that three. When I woke up, I got dressed and closed my eyes. I imagined melting the tips of tree branches for about a mile around. I found out that it worked, a little too well. The trees were halfway showing on the branches! I only wanted the tips showing! What the Smurf!
All day I looked forward to lunch, the earliest class that I would have with Boy. When that time came around, Spencer put his arm around my shoulders.
"Hey babe. You sitting with us today?" he asked me
"Umm... No, actually. I'm sitting with Boy."
"Who?"
"Boy. I met him yesterday. During lunch."
"No. I'm not going to allow you to sit with him."
"Why not?" I stepped out from under his arm
"Because, everyone sees that you are beautiful, but you are officially mine."
"What do you mean? We aren't even married yet!"
I was getting mad, and outside it was getting warmer.
"Not yet, but we are still dating!"
"What do you mean 'dating?'"
"That's what people do before they get married, they date. And I will not allow you to see other guys before we are married!"
I walked into the cafeteria. Everyone was still eating, but also looking outside. It looked almost like a bright spring day.
"Oh crud!" I said to myself
I got my tray and sat next to Boy.
"What goes on Boy?"
"Well, first, the weather is really weird today..."
"Yes, it is because of my Tree Fairie powers. Muahahahaha." I said unenthusiastically.
"Umm... That's not what I meant, but okay. Second, I think your boyfriend is pretty mad."
I looked at Spencer. He was fuming. I smiled.
"Oh, he's not my boyfriend. But hang on. I gotta fix something."
"okay."
I closed my eyes and cooled down the outside and returned it to its snowy state.
"Okay, done." I said.
"Was that you..." He pointed to the window
"Yes! I keep telling you, I'm a Tree Fairy!"
"Really. I'm asking you seriously, Tessa. Was that you?"
"Was what me?" I asked innocently
"Outside!"
"Well that was most certainly odd. Ohio weather, right?"
"So it wasn't you, Tessa?"
"No, it wasn't me. But will you quit calling me that?
"What, Tessa?"
"Ya, that."
"What would you rather I called you?"
"Lillie."
"Why? That's nothing like Tessa."
"It...was my mother's."
"Oh."
"Well actually that was kind of a lie."
"Really?"
"Ya, umm... Lillie is my real name but I can't talk about it here. There are too many humans, but I'll meet you at Panera tonight and we can talk about it?"
"Umm, sure? But you say humans like you aren't-"
"Talk about it later."
I got up and walked away. Tonight at Panera wasn't a date. It's not!
