The inside of the black car was expensive-looking leather, though I wasn't surprised by it by that point. Hannah got back into the driver's seat, Brandon got into the passenger's seat, while Dustin and I got in the back.

"So, what's so important that I had to be pulled from my job?" I asked.

"I won't sugarcoat it," said Hannah, "It's not good. Those werewolves we've been tracking since the attack on the police station are on the move."

"You've been tracking them?" I asked.

"As much as we could," said Hannah, "Those wolves have been alive longer than any of us, which means they know how to move about society without leaving too much of a trace. As much as we can tell, they seem to have all been gathering in one place, which means they might be planning something."

"But you don't know what that's going to be." I said.

"Exactly," said Hannah, "It could be as simple as a revenge plot on you and your friends, or it could be a coup of the entire country. We have no way of knowing for sure, except for one thing; there appears to be an inside source for us, and they're targeting you three, the Packington survivors, specifically."

"An inside source?" I asked.

"Someone's been sending anonymous letters with vital clues and evidence," said Hannah, "Stuff that we need for the investigation. The source has dropped your name, as well as Mr. Hawkins and Mr. Jarvis, so we imagine it's someone you were in contact with back in the beginning."

"Wait... you don't think... ?!" I looked at Brandon, who looked right back at me.

"I do, actually," said Brandon, "There's no doubt that it's Mark."

"Mark Goswington," Hannah said, "Arrested for first-degree murder, plead down to voluntary manslaughter, sentence to juvenile detention until he was eighteen, then he would have been re-evaluated. Currently MIA since the investigation into the ruins of Camp Packington."

"Mark's the only person who could be doing it," said Brandon, "I already told Hannah and we agreed it makes the most sense."

"I've arranged a meeting with the source," said Hannah, "It took a while, but they agreed only if you three were there as well. The source especially wanted to see Scarlet."

"I'd imagine." I said. The idea of seeing Mark again was making my heart flutter.

"That's where we're heading now. Depending on what the source might have to tell us, we might need to relocate the three of you to a safe location. We'll have to wait and see on that. In the meantime - "

Hannah suddenly cut herself off, and I noticed she was looking in the rearview mirror. I turned to see what was behind us, and saw a car with tinted windows that looked dangerously close to our car. It also occurred to me that were were on a road in the middle of nowhere, driving down a long road and occasionally passing a building.

"That car followed us out of the city," said Hannah, "Looks like we're heading for an altercation. Be careful."

Right when Hannah said that, the car behind us rear-ended our car, causing me to nearly hit my head on the seat in front of me.

"What the hell?!" said Brandon, "What's going on?!"

"Looks like that altercation's happening sooner than I expected," said Hannah, "Hold onto something, they're going to ram us again."

I did so, bracing myself just in time for the car to ram us again, nearly causing Hannah to spin out, though she just barely managed to stay in control enough to not go off the road. I glanced back just as we were going over a bridge over a river.
