It was getting late into the night and the group had moved on from eating smores. I got up and snuck away before anyone can notice. I needed some alone time after all the excitement of today.
Unbeknownst to me I was followed.
I walked across the beach and admire the night. Gazing out to the ocean as I walked further from the fire. Out of view, I hear something snap.
I prepare myself and turn to fight what is behind me. I stop myself right before I make contact to see Neku. "Oh, Sorry Neku. I didn't mean to try to attack you or anything." He didn't seem to react all that much and stare blankly at you. "What are you doing here?" I asked trying to break the silence. "I can say the same for you." He says pointing out how I was out on my own. "I just wanted to listen to the waves is all."
"Alone?"
"U-Uh yeah..."
"Sounds like a one way ticket to being abducted if you ask me."
'He does have a point.'
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you."
"Just don't walk off without someone to accompany you." I nod and have Neku join me along the walk around the beach. "H-How are your studies?"
"I'm gonna cut to the chase, but you really shouldn't be out alone at night. Not just cause you're a girl in the least amount of clothing, but also who you are." I nod shyly and gets a bit embarrassed for being somewhat scolded. Neku sighs and pets my head. "Just be more aware of your surroundings." He grabs my hand and continues to lead me down the beach. It feels strange to hold someone else's hand, especially another boys. I still can't get the feeling of Riku's hands out of my mind. They both have warm hands. Making me feel safe.
Neku continues to walk me around the beach and we make it to under the cliff side. The water was closer and shines even brighter than at the coast. "Wow...wait, why did you take me here?" I turned to Neku as I asked this and he moves closer to me. "N-Neku?" He doesn't say anything and brushes his hand against my face. I closed my eyes, not sure what to do from here. 'W-What is he doing?! W-We've hardly spoken until tonight!'
I hear Neku clear his throat as I opened my eyes to see him with his hand pulled away from me. "You had sand on your cheek."
"O-Oh! T-Thanks." I say blushing as I turned away. 'Oh my god, I can't believe that happened. What was I expecting to happen?!' As I was having an inner freak out session, Neku begins to chuckle. I turned surprised and confused all together about what was happening. "S-Sorry, I'm not laughing at you. It's just...you look really cute when you blush." I blushed more and hides my face.
I can sense him getting closer to me. 'What is he going to do?! I-I shouldn't be like this, I like Riku...right?!' Just before I can make up my mind, I hear Riku call out my name.
"(y/n)! I know you're in here!" I turn to Riku's voice to see him looking at us. I realized how we looked from his point of view. Neku really close to my face with my face red as a strawberry, alone near a somewhat remote romantic cavern. Riku didn't seem to say anything and just took my hand to pull me away from Neku. "The others are waiting for you guys. We don't want to be late to the hotel." I nod shyly as he led us all.
I followed quietly as I looked down towards my feet. I didn't want to look up at Riku in the eye from how embarrassed I am. I didn't see the glares Riku and Neku exchanged as we approached the group back on the beach.
