I walked silently over to my closet, and I dug through everything until I found the backpack I had stored in the back. I then went over and grabbed some clothes from one of my drawers, throwing them into the backpack. Then, I went into my small box and pulled out some money. I took out 300 out of the 600 dollars I had stored in there. I then silently crept into Harmony's room and grabbed her some clothes.
I then went back into my room, taking a piece of paper from Harmony. I sat down at my desk and quickly scribbled down a note:
Dear Father,
I'm off to go find mom. How could you just scare her off like that? I'm taking Harmony with me, since you apparently don't care about her. How could you be so cold? Don't call my phone, I'll have it with me, but you'll be ignored. Why am I always fixing your problems? You got yourself into this shit. Anyways, I'm leaving, say goodbye. To both me and Harmony. See what you've done. You've scared off everyone you once loved. Wait, never mind, you never loved Harmony.
You're just lucky this wasn't a suicide note.
"Now it's double homicide and suicide, with no note!" -Kim (I doubt you even know me enough to figure out what I mean by that.)
Bye, Bye, Daddy,
Trinity & Harmony
I tucked the note under a book on my desk, and got up. I grabbed my phone and Ipod (and the chargers) and then walked over towards the door. "Come on, Harmony," I said softly, "Be quiet, though."
Harmony didn't ask any questions as we walked into my parents' room. We managed our way through the door silently and onto the balcony. I was happy to see that the ladder that my dad had been using to paint the house with. I climbed a few steps down, and then helped Harmony onto it and climb down. When we were in the backyard, I quickly helped Harmony over the fence into my neighbor's yard, and I followed afterwards.
Walking out of my neighbor's yard and onto the sidewalk lining the houses, Harmony finally spoke up, "Where are we going?"
"We're gonna go find Mommy," I told her softly.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, I let go of Harmony's hand to answer it.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Trin, where are you?" Jake said on the other end of the phone.
"I'm going to go find my mom." I said flatly.
"Do you even know where she is?"
"Yeah, she's in Baltimore."
"How do you know that?"
"That's where she always is."
"How are you planning on getting there?"
"The train."
"How you planning on buying the tickets?"
"I got cash, and will you please stop interrogating me?"
"I'm coming with you," He decided.
"Fine. I'll be by your house in ten minutes, be ready." I said, hanging up the phone. I didn't really want Jake to come, I didn't like when he got involved in my family 'issues.'
Harmony and I took the quiet walk around our neighborhood to Jake's house. Jake was waiting outside his house, I had expected him to be late, not waiting for us outside.
Jake smiled and walked over as we approached the house. While I greeted him, Harmony complained her legs were tired, which I would expect, she's only five. Jake lifted her up onto his shoulders. Even though Harmony bugged him sometimes, he still liked her as though she was his own sister. We started walking along the sidewalk towards the train station.
