Shikamaru slowly woke up. He felt a warmth on his chest and side. He looked down and saw red locks of hair all around him. Himika was cuddled up to him, slightly holding his shirt. She had one leg draped over his legs and her head was on his chest. He rubbed her back slightly, shaking her. All he got was a groan and she tightened her hands around his shirt. He chuckled and looked at his clock. It was noon.
"Himi, we have to wake up now," he said quietly, not wanting to jolt her awake. She stirred a little.
"Why? I'm so cozy and warm," she said quietly. Her voice was soft and huskily. He thought her morning voice was cute.
"Because it's noon and I'm pretty sure we have to check in with the Hokage," he said. She softly groaned and reluctantly pulled herself off of Shikamaru. She sat on the end of the bed and rubbed her eyes. Shikamaru propped himself up on his elbows and seeing her in this state made his heart flutter. The thought of waking up to this every morning. Seeing her in his clothes, long red hair tousled up everywhere, flowing like a river, and her cute morning voice. The more he thought, the closer he felt to her in his heart.
He got up and changed his shirt. He looked behind him to see Himika slowly moving towards the bathroom. He chuckled at her slow movements and continued to get ready. They should have already checked in with the Hokage but both of them didn't want to get up. He finished changing and he turned around to see Himika did her hair a little different. It was all curled and part of it was in a bun. That with her tight ninja clothes so she could move freely. She definitely was beautiful. Suddenly he thought of something and walked to the old storage trunk he had in his room.
"Hey Himika, I was looking around my room finding things to get rid of and stuff and I found this," he said and pulled out an off-the-shoulder shawl kimono. It was a pretty pastel color shawl. Himika smiled and took it from him. She turned it over to see the Nara clan symbol on the back. She looked up at him.
"This has your clan symbol on it, I-I can't wear it..." She said. She grew up knowing only people who were part of the clan could wear the symbol. That it was dishonorable to wear the symbol if you weren't married or born into it. Shikamaru smiled and walked up putting his hands on her shoulders.
"Himika, as far as I'm concerned. You are a part of this clan. I will marry you one day and I feel this should kind of be like a promise ring," he said to her. Himika felt her heart skip a beat. He was serious. Just like last night.
"Y-you really want me to wear your symbol? Do you really feel I could honor it?" she asked him sincerely. He looked at her and held her face.
"I would be honored for you to wear this symbol," he said and gently kissed her. She kissed back and pulled away. She put the shawl on and it fell perfectly around her frame. She looked up at Shikamaru who held a proud smirk on his face. She grabbed his hand and they walked to the Hokage's office together. When they approached the door, it was already open. She heard two familiar voices in the office.
"So you sent Naruto, Sakura, and Sai to the Fire Temple because of grave robbers?" Kakashi asked her. Tsunade sighed.
"I sent them because something is off there. There's a kid named Sora who seems to have a special chakra and I specifically wanted Naruto to go and see if part of the nine tails might have been in him," She explained.
"Well, that would be interesting. Hopefully, they figure it out," Kakashi said. At that point, Himika and Shikamaru walked in.
"Ah Himika, glad you could finally join us. I already sent your team on a mission," Tsunade told her.
