I swallow hard. I feel my pulse hard in my neck. I'm no longer used to watching people die INFRONT of me. I had an urge just to ram Tobias into a computer and slap the sense back into him for killing Garrett but I would need to do that later. Now I have to keep a close eye on anyone around.
Tobias takes the seat Garret was sitting in and types furiously onto the keyboard. His eyes are squinted and he looks concentrated.
I rotate my view from him then back to the hallways. Nothing out of the ordinary. Actually no people in general which wasn't usually what goes around Dauntless. There will always be a few idiotic kids doing some dares and stuff, or random fights and spars in the hallways and cafeteria, but none of that right now.
"I got into the system but the whole thing is screwed up and I'm not sure if I can play any footage from earlier.." Tobias states his voice sounds ruff and irritated.
I nod but just as I'm about to reply I hear footsteps. Fast footsteps. Like multiple people are having a race. Suddenly a stray young and innocent girl comes panting down the hallway her face full of fear. She turns her head just the slightest. She's inching closer to us but she is still a good 100 feet away. I keep myself nice and small next to the little tree plant. Watching from INBETWEEN the branches. The girl lets out a loud shriek as two fully black dressed guards pop out of no place. A guard pins her against the wall, slamming her several times till her face flushed and she passes out cold on the ground. The other guard just scoffs. Kicking her side to make sure there's not a chance she will suddenly wake up. When there both satisfied they start dragging her by her arms down the hallway. I stay as quiet as possible.
"Stupid girl" the guard who was slamming the girl into the wall says.
The other guard nods and takes a second before saying "should've just stayed in her cell instead of trying to run.. We're are we taking her anyways?" He asks and the other guard slaps him on the face and hard.
"Stupid ! Eric already told you this through training! Just follow me alright!" The first guard says. i gasp.
Eric?!?!?!
I cover my mouth looking up to the guards as they both turn there eyes directly at me. Or at the bush to say the least. They stare for what seems like forever before the first guards takes a few steps closer. He is almost towering over me before the second guard grabs his arm.
"Eric needs us back and now. Any budget cuts and were the first to go. So let's get this chic back to her cell" he says which sounded very good for me.
The first guard nods his head and drags the girls body out of eye shot.
I bound across the hall into the room Tobias is. My heads spinning and I feel like any second I could just pass out but I don't. I dry the sweat from my forehead my eyes darting around the room.
"Tobias. There's guards coming. I need to find something to lock this door shut. We can buy some time and find some way to escape before they barge in." I state it simple and clear.
Tobias doesn't say a word but a gleam of worry is in his eyes that WERENT there before.
I look and I look but the room is empty beside for the chair Tobias is sitting on and computers and headsets that won't help us at all in this case.
I hear pounding. Like footsteps. Like a whole stampede of rhinos are making there way down the hall.
I suck in my breath tryig to use all my upper body strength, pushing my all 120 pounds against the door. I hope and pray it will be enough but a few guards against me will be nothing. I feel the pounding and the screaming.
"OPEN UP BEFORE WE HAVE TO USE FORCE"" the voice hammers in my ear.
They continue to pound for a minute before the door slams open. Leaving me sliding against the tile floor.
