Would you rather?

"Would you rather... be a mud-blood but have everyone love and respect you, or be a pureblood and have everyone hate you?" I ask Draco as we lay on his bed waiting to be called down for dinner, our parents laughter echoing from down stairs.

"Definitely pureblood, I would rather be a muggle then be a mud-blood, that way i would't have to live with the shame of being a mud blood, because i would have no clue we existed it the first place." He replied in a snarky way.

"I guess you already are a pureblood everyone hates." I say with a smile, nudging his arm that lays beside mine.

"Oh terribly funny Aradia, how long did it take you to come up with that joke." He scoffs as he gets off his bed and walks over to his wardrobe.

"I was sitting on that joke for like two hours, just waiting for the right moment." I say as I watch Draco look through his closet.

"We have a comedian amongst us, how wonderful". He says sarcastically.

"Have you seen my black jumper anywhere I swear it was in here." He asks confused.

"I may have borrowed it last night and left it at home." I say with a worried look, Draco tends to get mad when i borrow his things without asking, but if I ask he'll just say no so whats the point in asking. Besides his mum would just tell him to give it to me anyway so theres no point in all those extra steps.

"Aradia you cant call it 'borrowing' if never intend on giving it back, stop taking my shit without asking." He says as he takes a different jumper out of his wardrobe.

"Thats a cool jumper." I say reaching to grab it. Draco playfully slaps my hand and i quickly retract it.

"You are never allowed to 'borrow' this jumper, in fact you can never touch this jumper, understand?" Draco says in a serious voice with a hint of playfulness as he lays back down beside me.

"Yes sir Mr. Malfoy sir." I say saluting him, imitating a solider. He rolls his eyes in response. Man this kid hates people touching his shit, i mean its not like he can't afford a new jumper.

We have been sitting in silence for a few minutes now and its bugging me, I hate when people don't talk because then it makes me feel like i shouldn't talk, and I love talking I always have. whereas Draco can sit in a room full of people and not talk for hours, he scares me sometimes. But i guess thats why we get along so well, I talk so he doesn't have to.

"What are you thinking about." I say rolling over to face Draco, braking the silence.

"Just imagining how much better my life would be if my father befriended the Parkinson's instead of the Castello's." He said with a smile looking at the ceiling, fiddling with his rings.

"Your telling me you would rather have Pansy pug face Parkinson smelling up your room and borrowing your jumpers." I say while pushing up my nose with my finger and snorting like a pig in his face. Draco laughs and pushes my face away. Pansy is a girl in our year who used to be obsessed with Draco, I think deep down she still is, she just isn't obvious about it anymore. I never liked her she always gave me bad vibes, like the feeling you get when you see a white van parked outside a playground.

"You know," i start to speak, "I have always dreamt of being friends with the Diggory's, Just imagine it, me and Cedric laying next to each other in bed, our bodies almost touching, the sexual tension growing between us. Until finally he grabs me and we kiss until sunrise." I say over dramatically as I flop down onto the mattress pretending to make out with Cedric.

Draco slams a pillow into my face while chuckling. "When are you going to give up on your Cedric Diggory fantasy, you have liked him since first year. Either you just give up or tell him about your gigantic crush, because it's getting creepy."

"No i can't tell him that I like him, it will ruin the fantasy I have created. But if i did tell him do you think i would have a chance." I say sitting up excitedly. Draco does the same so he's sitting opposite me.

"Sure you would!" he says enthusiastically while grabbing my shoulders, "if you blackmail him well enough." He said laying back down on the bed grinning, beyond happy with the joke he made.

My excited smile turns into a frown as I hear the second part of his sentence. "Why cant you be nice for once." I say throwing a pillow at him.

"If you want nice go befriend a fucking Weaslbee, i'm sure theres more then enough room for you there." He says sarcastically. "Kids, dinner" Narcissia shouts from down stairs.

"I would rather be friends with a Weaslbee then a ferret boy." I say running out the room, so Draco can't hit me. He gets very sensitive about the whole ferret situation, I think he's got a bit of PTSD from it.

We make our way down stairs and sit at the table. I always love having dinner at the Malfoy's because their house elves always prepare the most delicious meals. The table is lined with many different dishes that i cant wait to eat, but I cant help feeling guilty because most of this food is going to be wasted, hopefully the house elves can figure out what to do with the leftovers.

The Malfoy's are like my second family, we are over there pretty much every week when Draco and I are on holidays. Our fathers have been friends since their Hogwarts days, when they graduated my father went on to work for the ministry of magic and now he's the head of the department of mystery's. I don't exactly know what Lucius does, Draco once said something about investments but I'm not to sure, I have learnt not to ask questions about the Malfoy's past.

I load my plate up with two things, meat and potatoes. I have never liked salad I am an extremely picky eater so I usually go for things i know i'll like. "Darling could you please try to eat some vegetables." My mother asks with a pleading look on her face. My mum, Cassandra, she's one of the most beautiful women I know, not just on the outside on the inside to. She is extremely kind hearted and will help anyone who needs it, even if that means being with someone and holding their hand while they take their last breath, which she has done many times. She loved helping people so much she became a healer, thats how her and my father met, he got hurt playing a game of Quidditch with his friends when he was in his twenties and my mother was the one healing him. The story is quite romantic, they tell it every year on their anniversary, yet i still have no idea how a Hufflepuff and a Slytherin managed to fall in love with one another. I guess there is hope for me and Cedric.

I obey my mother and put a few pieces of carrot and broccoli on my plate. My father gives me a proud nod. Lorenzo Castello, my father, he was born in Italy but moved here with his family when he was ten. No matter where we go he always has the biggest personality in the room, people will sit for hours listening to him tell outrageous stories, he would have the whole room laughing in a matter of minutes, and he always seems to know everyone no matter where we are. But if you were to meet my father for the first time his looks can be very intimidating, most people a scared to approach him because he looks like he could be in that muggle movie 'the Godfather', but in reality he's not so bad. I don't know who i take after, I have my fathers brown eyes and brown hair I also have his personality and he was is Slytherin too, yet i have my mothers curly hair and some people have told me I have her kind heart, but I don't like showing my kindness, especially to strangers, it makes me seem vulnerable and weak. Guess thats why i'm a Slytherin and not a Hufflepuff.

I skilfully put my vegetables on Draco's plate without anyone seeing, well I thought no one saw, as i look back up Lucius is staring right at me. My heart speeds up as i'm preparing to get told off, but he says nothing, he just winks as a small smile creeps onto his face. Im pretty sure i'm Lucius' favourite, I mean he puts up with me every week and hasn't threatened to kill me yet, I think thats very impressive.

We finish off our meal and the adults go into the parlour to drink, their laughter fills the manor as does the slurred stories from their youth. I love moments like these, I hope things will stay like this forever.

Draco and I just sit on the couch and talk about the most random things until my mother tells us it's time to go. I hug Narcissia goodbye and thank her for having us, "come over Sunday and spend the night so you and Draco can get ready for you first day back together, fifth year, i can't believe it." Narcissia says as she hugs me back. "see ya ferret boy" i say to Draco, he rolls his eyes. "Finally your leaving, thought you would never go home," he said with a smirk. "Yep, i'm leaving... but i'm back on Sunday and i'm staying the night ." I say as a scruff up his hair and walk out the door.
