"————, hand the letter over." They sternly demanded, irritation and... desperation? Flickering in their eyes as they attempted to roughly snatch the letter away from his hands, only for it to be effectively pulled out of reach by said skeleton, who eyed them suspiciously.

"Why're you panicking all of a sudden? You don't even know what's in these letters, what's gotten you so flus-"

"You don't understand. There is something in there that that- that man put in there, okay! It will jeopardize- everything! To me!" They hissed desperately, their voice glitching out for a split second before they jumped up to grab the letter, only for him to swiftly turn on his bottom and pull it right out of her grasp once again.

"You don't even know who Dream is." He shot back, "so how do you know it's a male?" He eyed the being suspiciously, who only just grimaced at their own mistake.

"I just assumed. Guess I was right on the money..."

"Just- I'm sure there's nothing here that can harm you." He sighed, before patting the unknown being reassuringly, much to their (and his own) surprise. Reeling backward awkwardly, the unknown being's cheeks were turning into a soft pink, before shooting him a crooked, awkward replica of a grin they used to give him.

"Awww, ————! I didn't know you were so sentimental towards little ol' me~" They teased, though they themself were in a similarly flustered and confused state as he was, just earning a weak click of the teeth from him.

"Did not. That was just for reassurance."

"Diiiiiiid tooooooo!"

"Did. Not."

"Totally did!" They giggled, only to be met with an upright smack on the forehead by his bony hand. Letting out a yowl of pain, they looked up at him with a betrayed expression, their purple lashes dampened due to the small tears that threatened to fall out.

"Just drop it." He murmured, a strange sense of embarrassment and- familiarity struck him. But at what, he wondered? The banter? The topic? Or... he let his eyes gaze down at the still laughing humanoid being, before shaking the thought off with a 'it's impossible' and then shaking them off as well.

"Awww, ———— is embarrassed! What a rare sight!" They laughed, and just like that, some kind of glitched- scenery? Memory? Flashed in his mind.

Trees, white... white snow, and... that familiar stupid purple hair don't trust them and yellow? Don't remember eyes they betrayed you with a sparkle in the middle in place of pupils they killed everybody that he was so enamored with back then. They took everything away from you! Wait, back... when? Don't remember Back to before The End?

"————? Are you okay? ————!" He was suddenly snapped out of that downward spiral of deja vu once he registered them calling out for him, a confused frown etched onto his face as he rubbed his forehead.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." He replied, "just deja vu is all. Are you sure we never met before I forgot everything?" Turning to look at them dead in the eye (well, eyelids, since they're always just closing their eyes), he saw a flash of unease and guilt on their expression for a split second, before it eased back to their easygoing smile.

"What are you talking about? I'm telling you, I'm just here as an informant for things you don't know that I do, and I just wanna see how you react to the letters!" They hummed, "simple as that."

"Are- you the one who had them write these, then?" He asked, "saved them before they crumbled, had them write these to give to me?"

"..." They were silent for a moment, before nodding. "Mhm... I guess you could say that."

"Wait, really?!"

"Y-Yeah?" Sensing tension from the being, he quickly smiled to resolve the misunderstanding.

"I'm not mad or anything, don't worry about it just-! ... Wow, you- you could do that? And for me?"

"It'd make for an interesting after story considering The End has already passed and you- you lived, sir. You survived something not even the protector or the destroyer could live through." The entity said, shocking him.

"But in all of these letters, it was as if you knew I was going to survive. After all, the smudged out names would be a lot more ambiguous and you wouldn't have to smudge them out, considering if they didn't know who survived, and had to write in a way that could be addressed to anyone." He hypothesized, shooting back at the entity.

"... Hmph, that is a story for when you finish reading the letters." They chuckled, before patting his head gently, earning a soft blush from him as he took the next letter.

"... So are we friends?"

"If you want to be friends."

"No no no, you're the one who wants to be friends here- you even saved strangers just to help me. I think the message got across quite clearly."

They just snorted. "Whatever you say, ————, my old friend."

He chuckled, before opening the fifth letter.
