Early the next morning, Alex woke up to a smell he could only describe as glorious.
He wandered out of his room, into the kitchen seeing a cute boy making breakfast for five.
"Well good-morning," Alex said as he walked up to Karl, watching him do what he does best.
"Morning, Alex," Karl smiles, his head in his own world.
"Alex aye? You never use that name, what's the special occasion?" Alex chuckles lowly, his body leaning slightly closer to Karl's before the two are interrupted.
"Sorry to interrupt the flirting boys, but something smells good," Sapnap slithers his way into the kitchen, then finds himself seated at the table, staring at the two boys.
Alex and Karl freeze up, pink flushing their faces.
Sapnap notices this reaction, "heh, cute."
"Sapnap-" Alex didn't have time to curse at the ravenette before another person joined the scene.
Eyebrows raised, Dream stumbles through the doorway, "what did I just walk in on?"
Dream was surprisingly without his mask, and everyone watched as he brought his hand through his hair, swiftly wiping away any loose hairs that might have found themselves about, then watched as he made his way to sit next to Sapnap.
The three don't elaborate to him, rather Alex starts a new conversation, "no mask, huh?"
Dream looked down at his feet, scratching the back of his neck softly, "I mean—I don't think I need to hide myself from you guys anymore..."
Alex nods, figuring that maybe George had talked to Dream since he last saw the both of them. (cause you know, he's a genius like that ;] )
"It's good that you feel that way," Karl begins, "I felt like you just weren't the kind of person you normally are with it on."
Dream took note of Karl's words.
He was probably right.
Dream hadn't been the same since he started wearing that thing.
___________
*FLASHBACK TO LAST NIGHT*
"Say, why do you wear that mask all the time anyways? At first I thought it was so no one saw you in public, but you still have it on now," George mentioned.
Their conversation naturally turned from such serious topics to more lighthearted ones.
Dream crossed his elbows, searching in the depths of his mind for an answer, "in all honesty, ever since I found things out, it's been an outlet..."
George watched him as he spoke, listening with intent, it was endearing.
Dream never experienced someone listening to him like that before–besides Sapnap, and even then, Sapnap wasn't exactly the type he'd open up to, "I suppose it allowed me to feel like a different person. Not some fake prince."
Dream chuckled nervously as George played with a bracelet on his hand.
"You're more than that though. Not just some fake prince."
____________
Dream let the thought fade from his mind, focusing back to the present, "When does George usually wake up? It's getting kinda late, and we still need to find the best route to L'manburg."
At this, Karl and Alex glance at each other, Karl sighing, "Still?"
"Still," Alex replies, "Like old times?"
