I looked up from my book when the bedroom door opened and Devin walked in. He closed the door behind him before sitting down on the bed, looking at me. Neither of us said anything but we were both thinking the same thing.
"We all know he's back." Devin finally said.
"But why? Why now?" I asked, placing the book mark back in my book and sitting it down.
"I don't know but I don't want you going anywhere alone." Devin said, getting up.
I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Devin, are you really going to start that?"
"Kerstin, he's after you. We all know it. I'm not going to let him take you away from me." Devin said.
"So what are you going to do? Stay around me all day? Devin, you can't, you have a job and I have a job." I said, getting out of bed.
"When I'm at work, the guys are going to be watching you." Devin said.
"I'm not a child, Devin." I snapped.
"I know baby but he's still a vampire and he's dangerous. I'm sure he's even more pissed off now than he was before." Devin said, taking my hands.
I pulled away from him. "I'm going for a walk."
"Kerstin! What did I just get through telling you?!" Devin said.
"Just...fuck off, okay? I can handle myself, Devin." I snapped.
He stood there, looking at me in shock. I had never talked to him this way and I didn't know why I was. I didn't have an answer for why I was so angry all of a sudden. I grabbed my jacket and slipped it on and went to the door. I stopped before I left though.
"I swear to whatever is up there, if you ask one of the guys to follow me, you'll be sleeping on the couch tonight." I said, not looking back at him.
I didn't let him answer before walking out of our bedroom and downstairs, slamming the front door behind me. I could feel him watching me from the bedroom window. I turned and saw him move away from the window, shutting the blinds as he did.

I walked to Starbuck's and got me a coffee before going to the park. It wasn't dark yet so I wasn't worried about anything. I'd be back before the sun went down. I sat down on the park bench and looked out. There was a family, a mom and her husband, and their two kids. They were pushing them on the swings and the kids were giggling and having a great time.
"The innocence of children is a great thing, isn't it?" a voice said from behind me.
I turned and stared at a man I had never seen before. I nodded slowly and turned back around, sipping my coffee. The man sat down beside me. He was wearing all black, even had black shades on. I was watching him from the corner of my eye.
"Don't you just wish you could go back to being a little kid?" he asked, his voice calm.
"I guess." I said, moving away from him a little.
"Does my being here bother you?" he asked.
"No...my boyfriend is coming to pick me up soon." I said, getting up.
The man stood up. He was as tall and skinny as Chris was. I knew it wasn't him though, Chris wouldn't come out during the daylight. That's when I noticed something. The sun wasn't as bright as it had been, in fact, it was overcast. I wondered how long I had been gone.
I pulled my cell phone out, glancing at the time. It was almost 7:30. The sun sets in fifteen minutes. I also noticed I had about ten text messages and three calls from Devin. I assumed he was probably out looking for me now.
